[edit] FAQ

Q: Is it possible to use an external graphic card on the ASUS M2R-FVM?
A: Yes, it is possible. The M2R-FVM supports PCIe x16 and normal PCI graphics cards.

Q: Does the M2R-FVM BIOS support hardware virtualization?
A: Hardware virtualization is a processor feature (e.g. AMD-V), the motherboard doesn't matter.

Q: How to enter the BIOS boot-menu to boot from floppy or CD?
A: Press F12 at the BIOS POST screen.

Q: How to enable the AAM (Automatic Acoustic Management) of my hard disk?
A: Enter the BIOS, go to section "Main", open the IDE/SATA entry for your hard disk and set "Auto Acoustic Management" to "minimum".

Q: How to read the thermal and fan speed sensors (SMSC DME1737) of the M2R-FVM?
A: SpeedFan >= 4.21, HWMonitor >= 1.09 and Everest 4.0 are able to read them.

Q: What does the BIOS option "Fan Control" do and how does it work?
A: When "Fan Control" is ON the motherboard controls speed of the fans, but when it's OFF the fans run at full speed all the time.

Q: What does the BIOS option "AMD Live" do?
A: If AMD Live is disable the cpu-z tool shows a HT-Link speed of about 200MHz, if enabled the HT-Link speed goes to 1000 MHz. The disadvantage is that after activating AMD LIVE a unknown device is in the device manager. After disabling the AMD LIVE the HT-Link speed stays at 1000MHz but the unknown device disappears ?!?

Q: I need a SATA RAID or AHCI driver floppy disk for Windows text mode setup, where can i find one?
A: They are included in the ATI South Bridge Driver. Just copy the contents of the folder "RAID", "SATARAID" or "SRAID64a" to the floppy disk. The folder "RAID" includes the AHCI driver, folder "SATARAID" the 32-bit RAID driver and folder "SRAID64a" includes the 64-bit RAID driver.

Q: Does the AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ Black Edition work in this motherboard?
A: Yes, it most certainly will (Though you will not be able to overclock it, making the unlocked multiplier of the BE useless).

Q: Does the AMD Phenom CPU line work on the M2R-FVM?
A: No. The AMD Phenom do work with the regular AM2 socket, all you need is a BIOS update. FSC has not released a BIOS update yet and there most likely wont be any further updates.

Q: Does the Asus EAH3850 OC GEAR/HTDI/512M graphics card works on the M2R-FVM?
A: Works Fine...

Q: Which CPUs are supported with the actual BIOS version (v1201)?
A: Answer from Fuji-Siemens:

  • Sempron 3400+
  • Sempron LE-1100
  • Athlon 64 3200+
  • Athlon 64 3500+
  • Athlon 64 3500+
  • Athlon 64 X2 3800+
  • Athlon 64 X2 4000+
  • Athlon 64 X2 4200+
  • Athlon 64 X2 4400+
  • Athlon 64 X2 4600+
  • Athlon 64 X2 4800+
  • Athlon 64 X2 5000+
  • Athlon 64 X2 5200+
  • Athlon 64 X2 5600+
  • Athlon 64 X2 6000+ and source?
  • Athlon 64 X2 6400+ should also work with BIOS 1201 (according to newsgroup users) source?

TODO: Are there any sources for this claims? lubot 14:25, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Q: Does the motherboard support both 6000+ models, the 3000 MHz Windsor and the 3100 MHz Brisbane?
A: Both works. I'm using 3100 MHz right now. ;)

Q: Which CPUs are supported with the first BIOS version (v0602)?
A: ???

Q: How do the memory modules have be organized so that 4GB can be used? Is the board able to utilize 2*2GB modules?
A: yes you can get 2+2GB modules. Xp is catching about 3gb. under win7 he finds all 4gb.

Q Does AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition work in this motherboard ??
A: No, because the motherboard doesn't support am2+ processors.

Q: What ist with the new low voltage generation CPUs like the Athlon X2 5050e. Does it work in this Mainboard?
A: ???

Q: Why Nvidia GeForce 6610XL works fine on my Asus M2R-FVM and when i use GeForce 8600GT or Radeon HD3650 i have black screen on start up?
A: Because PCIexpress on this mobo is in ver. 1.0 and VGA card PCIexpress in ver. 2.0 are comaptible with PCI Ex 2.0 and 1.1. See Wikipedia form more details.

Q: Windows 7: Address a problem with Away Mode System.
This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between your computer's Away Mode System and your 64-bit version of Windows. The Away Mode System is only compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows.
This problem is not critical, but you can prevent it from occurring again by disabling the Away Mode System in your computer's BIOS. Refer to the instructions that came with your computer that explain how to access the BIOS and turn off Away Mode System support.
Note
Changing BIOS settings requires moderate to advanced computer skills. If you are not experienced at changing BIOS settings, consider asking someone with more advanced skills to help you.
Please, help me what must I do?
A: Sorry, i don't understand a thing. lubot 14:25, 30 October 2009 (UTC) Q: So, When I booted up the system I could start the BIOS but i did not find AMS (Away Mode System). My problem is the system win7 64 is freezing down and the system send the message above. "Q" In which Dimm slots do I install two 2GB Memory modules ( Dual Channel). I have 4 Dimm slots.
