History
[edit] Existence
Alter (technically speaking) doesn't exist, while on the same time he exists. If cosmic beings are like organs provide specific functions for the human body only at a universal scale, Alter plays the role of a white blood cell. While he his small and insignificant alone, he has a role which he plays out that combined with the efforts of others is vital to the universe. (which is exactly what he tells himself to feel better about himself; really him being missing wouldn't do much) While he can be compared to and assumed to be a Watcher (showing similar characteristics) he lacks the overall ability to do anything and everything without permission of whoever is in charge of him. He himself has never met his superior, or knows why he's doing what he does. He could spend all eternity trying to figure out what he is, or why he's doing what he has to do, but if he did that he couldn't do his job. The job of his while dulled out after only a week since everything was created is still the very reason he is even around; if he doesn't even attempt to do what he is there to do or refuses to do anything, he will be punished by being completely erased from existence. Alter's main function is to attempt to watch, record, and alter whatever happens, will happen, won't happen, could happen, should happen, at all times, no times, everywhere, nowhere, and over there. While recording, he has to attempt to do something to change whatever has to be changed; without changing it. Because he is sent to do the impossible just to fail as expected, he hates his existence (or lack of) as in the end he was just created to try to change something he can't change, all while still trying to change the unchangeable even though it's not going to change no matter what he does to change it (even he can't wrap his mind around this)
[edit] World War II
Supposedly, Alter was around during WWII, alongside Captain America (probably how it looked - citation needed) Going by the codename "Human Shield (of Justice and stuff)" (not kidding; he made it up on the spot) Sadly, he wasn't really much of a help to the Invaders, Really he was just the boy who carried their things, cleaned their costumes, made them their meals, shined their boots, watched them shower. That sort of stuff. Eventually in 1945, he failed his task of preventing Captain America from freezing and being stuck in suspended animation.
[edit] Alter and Jack's Excellent Adventure~
Alter had a very special job to find a multidimensional time traveler named Jack, and take him to his own time so he stops messing up with the past and future. Unluckily for Alter, one of Jack's devices (the Vortex Manipulator) kept interfering with Alter's attempts to take them to said time period, leading to their excellent adventure through time. (the best moment Alter remembers from this, is when they helped Samuel L. Jackson break into Robert Downey Jr's home so that Samuel L. Jackson could tell him after the credits about a possible spin-off movie)

Alter is completely infatuated with Death; however it's unrequested.
[edit] Powers
- Anti-Gravity: Alter is capable of ignoring gravity, probably his best and only actual ability. However, he can't use it in a location where it would be very obvious that he's not a normal little boy wearing fake wings and a halo.
- Multidimensional Time Travel: Alter is capable of multidimensional time travel; however he doesn't have the option of selecting where and when he is going, he just gets orders in the form of a letter (or a voice depending where he is) and is ripped out of space to go there after reading said note. He can do minor changes to space such as going from one location to another; however like all his other abilities he has to request to do so from his superiors, which never ends well.
- Matter Manipulation: Alter is capable of creating objects, but before creating an object out of matter, he has to go through a rigorous bureaucratic processes (which even for beings like himself takes forever; normally two whole seconds) with a superior that often ends with his request to be denied or modified (they tend to be very unreasonable for anything actually useful) For example; he wants to get somewhere quick and asks them to make him a car, they instead allow him to make a bicycle.
- Perceptions: Alter has a (limited) non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint of time. Limited to only things he is allowed to see. However, he himself is forced to follow whatever happens, so while he knows something will happen to surprise him, when the event happens he will still find himself surprised even if he already knew it was going to happen. All in all, it pisses him off.
- Fourthwall Breaker: His most valuable ability; he's capable of breaking the fourthwall.
- Freewill: Alter has freewill, he is not apart of Destiny's book so he can do whatever he needs to do. However, everything that is bound to the book makes it impossible for him to do much without first giving them freewill. Those around him are bestowed freewill much like himself; the closer they are to him the less the Destiny's book describes their actions. This is the power that's capable of changing destiny; his entire being is made of pure freewill.
- Spiritually Immortal: His body can die (and has many times) but his absolute being is immortal; at death he is reconstructed, even if he keeps dying. Reason being that he exists outside of the mortal plane (he himself is nothing but a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff) the actual body is more of a puppet than it is him. He has no physical form; instead he has to get one from Anthropomorpho much like everyone else. Because of the way he acts and his duty, he is often given the form of a young boy; seeing as no one would listen to a child.
- Telepathic/Spiritual Immunity: Since he doesn't exist inside of his own body, he is immune to telepathic abilities; however his body can still be sensed as being around, his mind is completely nonexistent in said body however; spiritual abilities used on him work the same way.
[edit] Weaknesses
- M-Body (physical): While in his M-Body he is mortal, his body can be killed the same way a child can be, but upon death while his body is killed, he remains living. All of the atoms in his body are ripped apart (which is very painful) then put back together (which is also pretty painful) at a slightly different location depending on the way of death (this change was made after he was killed by something heavy falling on him, he kept dying and being reborn at the same area until they finally made that change) So he is capable of constant death.
- M-Body (spiritual): Since his body doesn't really have his mind, spirit or anything really in it, if someone does try to read his mind (or sense his spirit), all they will find complete blankness; which makes it easy to tell that the body's really just a shell.
- Natural Order: Alter is still incapable of affecting anyone or anything in anyway that would be considered interfering. For example, he knows someone's going to get ran over if they walk across the street and his job is to stop that. He can't help the person directly, so he will be forced to just ask the man help him with something minor (and only minor) such as tying his shoes. As you can guess, it never works out well.
- Bureaucracy: Alter must follow a set of rules and regulations before doing almost anything that involves his powers.
[edit] Roleplaying Statistics
STRENGTHS: Gravity Manipulation, Spiritual Immunity, Multidimensional Time Travel

LIMITATIONS: Alter (if attacked) will not fight. He is to not interfere directly, and attacking someone goes against that. (even if he just slightly harms someone, it's considered interfering directly; not in the way he was created to do so) He will stand and be killed as many times as needed (even if he has to be destroyed and remade a few thousand times) 82004
[edit] Weapons/Tools
- Alter's Guide to the Universe (Book): This is his one and only true piece of equipment/weaponry, his book (which he calls Alter's Guide to the Universe; his version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) The book when opened tells him information he needs to know, it logs everything he does and sees (for if he ever needs to check up on something) along with that it provides a few useful tools. Such as showing him the date, time, universe and location (down to the specifics) of where he is. That's useful seeing as he would often travel without knowing where he is going. It's other function is to communicate with his superiors, he writes down a message (which dissolves) and waits for a reply; then he is either given the confirmation he is capable of using the powers/make the material he requires, is denied, or his request is modified to something else. The book itself can only be opened by him (but it's contents can be viewed by anyone reading over his shoulder) Whenever he needs it, it will appear for him. The book itself can levitate with him, it can move on it's own, and it has even made itself appear to have life, the book itself responds to his voice (such as, him asking it to show him the time) but for actual requests to use his powers, he has to write it down.
- Alter's Pen: The pen alone is useless; but it's the only object that can write on his book. Much like the book, it appears on command. While the pen works to write on anything (it can write on anything; literally on any substance, he has once used it to write on liquid) if used by someone who isn't him it won't work (as if out of ink)
