Finding Coupons

Shopping with coupons is one of the best ways to save money. Coupons are meant as a way to bring in customers and get them to spend more, but as a smart consumer, you can use them to actually spend a lot less money. The more coupons you get and use for things you buy on a regular basis, the more you can save.

The Sunday Paper

Everyone knows about coupons in the Sunday paper. Our parents clipped coupons at breakfast every Sunday morning from the newspaper. The Sunday paper still has lots of coupons available for groceries, hygiene items, and other non-traditional items. You can also find coupons for department stores in flyers as well. Set up a binder to keep and organize your coupons to make using your coupons during your shopping trip easier and more efficient.

Do you get a lot of junk mail? Before you throw it all away, look through it to see if there are any good coupons. Sometimes you can get envelopes full of coupons specifically for businesses in your area such as pizza restaurants, supermarkets, beauty salons, and other small and large businesses.

Most supermarkets send out weekly flyers listing their current deals. You can see what's on sale, and sometimes you will find valuable coupons within the flyer.

Signing up for newsletters opens up earning opportunities. Do you frequently shop at a certain department store? Sign up for their online newsletter and you can receive coupons and alerts for sales on a regular basis. You can also get free coupons in the mail.

Catalinas are the coupons that print out with your receipt at the grocery store. These are ideal because they are for savings you will definitely use. Catalinas have savings based on what you bought. If you bought a carton of orange juice, you might get a coupon for orange juice. It's automatically relevant to your needs.

Coupon Books

Coupon books or entertainment books are ideal for entertainment savings. For a small price, you can get coupons for many area businesses such as restaurants, mini golf spots, bowling alleys, and other nearby businesses. These are often sold as fundraisers. You might as well help by donating some money and saving more money yourself.

Free Sandwiches

Sandwich shops and other fast food restaurants always have deals on food. For example, there is the Subway card where you can earn free sandwiches. If you eat a lot of sandwiches, you can save a lot in the long run. Other stores might give you a free drink after you buy ten or a similar deal.

In Stores

Some stores hand out coupons on your way out. When you make a purchase, they might give you a coupon when you're done to get you to come back in. Keep this in mind when you shop and try to take advantage of those coupons before they expire. Oftentimes they can be found online as well. Get one online and one in the store for extra savings. If possible, ask your cashier if she has any coupons you can use before she rings up your order.

Discount Cards

Discount cards are another popular fundraiser. It is a card that looks like a credit card, but it is covered in discounts for fast food restaurants, car washes, and other local businesses. The beauty of discount cards is that you can use them over and over. Do you eat at McDonald's a lot? You can keep using that discount over and over again. They usually don't expire until a year after you buy them.

Friends and Family Deals

Do you have a friend or family member that works in your favorite boutique or department store? Sometimes these stores have a friends and family night or weekend where friends and family get 10% to 30% or more off their entire purchase. Keep an eye out for these coupons and don't miss it. 30% is a huge savings amount to take advantage of.

Grocery Coupon Websites

There are several websites online that specialize in grocery store coupons. You are allowed to 'clip' a certain number of each coupon available. You can print it on your computer and use it in the store just like any other regular manufacturer coupon. Check them out regularly because they often change coupons. Even if you don't need the coupon yet, if you plan on buying it in the future, clip it and save it. They usually don't expire for at least a couple months.

MyPoints is a website where you can earn points. You can earn points when you shop at certain websites, read emails, or fill out offers. For example, if you decide to subscribe to Netflix, you could get 1,000 points or more. The benefit of these points is that they can be redeemed for gift cards or cash through PayPal. You will certainly find a gift card to a place where you shop, and it's free to join. Plus, MyPoints offers exclusive discounts on the purchases you make through them.

Coupon Codes

Are you a frequent online shopper? If you like to shop online to save money, you can save even more money with coupon codes. A coupon code is a simple code that you enter in a box during checkout. You could get free shipping, 10% off your entire order, 30% off one item, a lower price on a specific product, etc. Every store has different deals. Usually, smaller websites will have deals that span the whole store, such as 10% off your purchase, and larger stores will have more specific deals.
