Annie is a hardcore gamer. She's been playing video games ever since she could hold a controller, and is now a full-fledged video game fan. She's smart, self-confident, and a self-confessed cutie. However, her hardcore-gaming ways tend to repel many guys, a fact that frustrates her at times. Ultimately she doesn't really care, though, because for now, she's having the time of her life.

Annie's best friend. Quiet, contemplative, and curious, he always knows the right thing to say, even if it's not the right time to say it. Although he plays video games occasionally (he has a Playstation), he'd rather play basketball. Most of the time he doesn't know what the heck is going on, so he is Annie's unwilling "student" in the ways of the Hardcore Gamer.

Annie's unofficial rival. Another girl gamer, she's calm, cool, and collected compared to Annie's in-your-face demeanor. She tends to be rather cynical and sarcastic at times. Compared to her superior fighting and adventure game skills, her gaming skills in other genres are slightly lacking. Grace has a crush on Jae and is not afraid to make this known, much to Jae's annoyance. Her dad is Japanese and her mom is Chinese, so she knows some of each language and culture.

Clothing Style: skater grrl
Kenny's girlfriend and good friend of Annie. She's cute, funny, optimistic, and is always there to lend a hand. Although she doesn't mind being short, she hates short jokes. She is obsessed with Tare Panda, much to the dismay of Kenny. She's an amateur skateboarder but is quickly mastering kick tricks. Ever since she got addicted to Tetris a while back, her puzzle gaming skillz are unmatched by few, even Annie herself.

Kenny is Annie and Jake's friend from school. He's cool, though a bit dense at times. He's always there for his friends, although it may not seem like it times. He also plays drums for Jae's band 'cause he's the fastest and rockin-est drummer there is. He's quite the anim� fanatic and even does some cosplay.

Jae is a quiet guy with a lot on his mind. He's always thoughtful, sometimes crazy, creative and artistic, and a wannabe skateboarder. He plays the bass guitar for his own punk band. He also has a not-so-secret crush on Mei Lin but always somehow gets interrupted or distracted whenever he has a chance to talk to her.

Joy is a bright and cheery girl who is rarely seen without a smile on her face. She's in a couple of N8's classes, and N8 has taken quite a shine to her (in the Emo series). She's best friends with Jae Li and is an ever cheerful, smart, outgoing, fun-loving gal. She does occasionally does vocals for Jae's band. Joy is also Grace's big sister and teases her often.

Kimberly seems like she's always pissed at something. There's gotta be a reason behind it but it is unknown at the moment (even to me). There are rare moments when she smiles but they are far and few between. She plays the guitar for Jae's band. Her hair always seems to have a habit of covering one side of her face, usually her left side.

Mae Lin is a shy, nice, and smart girl. She's not much of a talker, but she makes her ideas known through other ways. To Jae, it seems like she has no idea he exists, but she is actually quite aware of his presence.

Spence is Jae's cousin, and he usually tries to get Jae to do stuff for him. On the outside he seems arrogant and self-centered, and he is, but deep, deep down, he's really a nice guy. Somehow he is also class president, so he has all these responsibilities that he doesn't really want.

A shy, loner type who seldom talks but when he's on the turntables, he's a noisemaker, spinning killer beats for the feet, often DJ-ing for dances with the DJ team that he is part of. He is the resident DJ for Jae's band. He prefers to be called by his DJ name, Ronin X, and everyone except for his parents and teachers call him that. Even though he is only a freshman, upperclassmen respect him. Well at least acknowledge his existence.

Clothing style: not-quite-skater boy
N8 (closer friends call him Nat) is not your average ordinary Asian-American male teen. He's a walking contradiction of sorts - bold yet shy, intelligent yet stupid, crazy yet sane, a simple guy with a complicated mind. He's driven by his passions which include drawing, comic books, and punk rock and happy hardcore/techno, which may account for his oft hyper nature. he's generally optimistic, but when he's down, you can really tell. having absorbed the languages of many different cultures, he tends to use random foreign words. N8 can be pretty moody too. It must be the artist within him. At times he's all crazy and hyper, and hours later will be down in the dumps. By the time he finished with college (Faking Life), N8 considerably mellowed out, becoming more of a introspective, bitter cynic after years of post-high school experience. However, he's still the same ol' wacky nice guy inside.

Kate is kinda N8's female counterpart but not really. She's not crazy like N8, but she's got a good sense of humor about things, so she can tolerate him. She's Korean, but she grew up in Hong Kong, so she knows more about Chinese than Koreans.

Jared is N8's best friend since elementary school. Compared to N8, he tends to be more on the sarcastic and pessimistic side, but he always has his head on straight. He gets a bit annoyed at the way N8 acts at times, but they're still the best of friends.

Sam is a friend of N8 and Grace, although neither is actually aware of that fact. Sam is also in Grace's homeroom, hence she is a year younger than N8 (for those of you keeping track of ages). She's smart but can be a bit naive or unknowledgeable at times, which leads to confusion during conversations.

The Girl with the Wonderful Smile is based on a real girl, but the actual character represents that ideal, unobtainable girl N8 seems to always fall for. She remains unnamed for this reason. Will N8 ever be able to win her heart? Who knows?

The Monkey King was once a legendary Chinese folk hero who would travel all over China with his homies, helping regular folks and playing pranks on stuffy gods and goddesses. Now he works in a Starbucks in the Land of the Golden Mountain (San Francisco), bitter and stripped of most of his powers, waiting to be let back into heaven. Someday...
