Host: Daryl Bradford Smith

Guest: Ted Pike [1]

(1) I love when Daryl Bradford Smith calls George W. Bush a moron. It's not that Bush isn't a moron; it's rather that Smith is actually a bigger moron.

(2) Before bringing in Ted Pike, Daryl Bradford Smith brings the coward Eric Hufschmid on. Smith repeats garbage about the liberal sexuality of the "Frankists" (by the way, someone teach this idiot to pronounce "pederasty"). Listen to the way that Hufschmid rants and raves. He says that people tell their friends about their articles, but he stubbornly refuses to debate anything he writes or posts.

(3) Ted Pike comes on and they begin discussing the Scofield Bible. Pike says that Cyrus Scofield wrote commentary on the King James Bible that helped served Zionist interests. The first issue is dispensationalism. Pike agrees with this idea, but not with Scofield's supposed belief that the ethical idea of God behind that line of Scripture changed over time.

(4) On mentioning Calvinism in the United States, Ted Pike says that the foundation of the U.S. is Calvinists and that Calvinism still exerts an influence here. This is not true. You can look at the numbers of denominations yourself. [2] Only Presbyterians are listed as numerous, and they make up a whopping 3 percent of the U.S. population.

(5) In answering the question from Daryl Bradford Smith of whether "these people" (i.e., Jews) created Calvinism, Pike repeats the idiotic notion that Calvin's last name (actually Chauvin) was a corruption of the name Cohen.

(6) Ted Pike claims that Scofield believed that the expulsion of the Israelites from Palestine was conditional and that they would eventually be allowed to return even if they had not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. This is patently untrue. Here [3] from the Scofield Bible is Scofield's seven parts of the so-called Palestinian Covenant. Number 5 is "National Conversion."

(7) Daryl Bradford Smith talks about Stalin purging million of Christians from churches as if the Jews were not affected and their synagogues not closed. For the record, Hebrew was the only language ever permanently outlawed in the Soviet Union. How Stalin connects to Zionists, I have no idea.

(8) Ted Pike goes on to talk about the fig tree that Jesus refers to in the Gospels and that according to dispensationalists, this fig tree is the rebirth of Israel. He cites Hal Lindsey, who actually predicted terrible bloodshed in Palestine in the final generation. He writes, in The Late Great Planet Earth, "the valley from Galilee to Eilat will flow with blood and 144,000 Jews would bow down before Jesus and be saved." In fact, Pike ignores that even the evangelicals that he excoriates believe that the vast majority of Jews will die after the Rapture and that only the 144,000 who convert will be saved. Remember: Scofield says this is so.

(9) Ted Pike calls about Christians being attacked in Philadelphia. I was there; the gay pride fair Pike refers to was on my block -- literally outside my window. The "Christians" arrested were inciting a riot and were rightly arrested.

(10) Ted Pike claims that the best proof for Jesus's divinity is his excoriation of the Pharisees (and their evil Babylonian oral traditions -- never mind that there was no Jewish population in Babylon compiling oral tradition for another fifty years at least). This is the "begging the question" fallacy, by the way: Using as proof of a religious idea a religious text.

(11) Daryl Bradford Smith now gets into the so-called allowances for homosexuality and child sexual abuse and bestiality in the Talmud. This stuff is so old it has gray hair, and Gil Student [4] has debunked it all.

(12) Ted Pike brutally mispronounces halakha and Akiba and Bar Kochba -- not really a point, but amusing. But then he calls them all pedophiles, all without proof. He claims that a three-year-old girl can be taken in marriage through sex. He also claims that a nine-year-old boy can be raped by a rabbi and it isn't a sin. These points bear commenting upon.

This is covered in Talmud Sanhedrin 54b-55b, which can be read here (notably on an anti-Semitic Web site):

http://www.come-and-hear.com/sanhedrin/sanhedrin_54.html

Clearly the text makes clear this point first: "Now, he who [actively] commits pederasty, and also [passively] permits himself to be thus abused — R. Abbahu said: On R. Ishmael's view, he is liable to two penalties, one [for the injunction] derived from thou shalt not lie with mankind, and the other for [violating the prohibition,] There shall not be a Sodomite of the sons of Israel. But on R. Akiba's view, he incurs only one penalty, since thou shalt not lie and thou shalt not be lain with is but one statement."

So pederasty is not allowed. The quote further down -- "Pederasty with a child below nine years of age is not deemed as pederasty with a child above that. Samuel said: Pederasty with a child below three years is not treated as with a child above that" -- is relevant only to the question of whether the child should also be punished.

The punishment for pederasty in Classical Judaism is death.

As for the three-year-old girl, the Talmud reads, "R. Joseph said: Come and hear! A maiden aged three years and a day may be acquired in marriage by coition, and if her deceased husband's brother cohabits with her, she becomes his."

This is sort of an opposite statement on the pederasty law, and, in fact, what is actually being discussed, to which R' Yosef makes response here, is whether the animal in a case of bestiality should be stoned along with the person who had sex with the animal. What R' Yosef says, instead, is that a girl of three or younger, if raped, should be treated as a virgin in cases of marriage (this is the context of the discussion, by the way, in all other discussions of minor sex in the Talmud), whereas if she is three years and one day, the man who raped her must be forced to marry her, because her bridal purse would be signficantly reduced as not being a virgin.

It's important to bear in mind that these things were being discussed 1,500 years ago. The Shulkhan 'Arukh, the actual code of law for Jews, does not permit a girl less than twelve years old to marry, and extramarital sex is forbidden in all cases.

(13) Daryl Bradford Smith now libels Dr. Laura Schlesinger -- a libel for which he later had to apologize. He connects Schlesinger with "Shabad-Lubavitch," which he claims is a Sabbatean organization. It is not. He also claims that Chabad-Lubavitch has proclaimed the Messiah, who is still alive. Only some Lubavitchers have proclaimed a messiah, and this messiah is R' Menachem Mendel Schneerson, who is now dead.

(14) Daryl Bradford Smith implies that Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center [5] is Jewish. He is not.
