Welcome

Welcome to the new fLIPPED wiki, although I'm sorry to say that the Test Demo ain't done yet, but I'm gradually getting there :). Just Incase you don't know, fLIPPED is an original skateboarding game, based upon the great Tony Hawks Pro Skater games. fLIPPED was previously known as OpenHawk, but with the decision to make the game private, the name was changed. Although I will consider making fLIPPED open source after completion, or possibly sooner.

IRC Channel

I myself will be hanging out at #flipped on the EFNET servers, whenever I'm online. I strongly advise anyone involved in the project to join me, and I also welcome anyone else to come visit :).

Ollie on Board

At the moment I am really looking for people to design and create (model/texture/etc) levels. I hope to make levels fun, packed with some cool secret and super secret areas, and teleports. There will be massive points for gaps, as to encourage freestyle and to try keep equally competitive with robots. If you think you can help in any way, please pop onto our IRC Channel, or leave a message on the guestbook of my website. Also, please be as specific as possible of yours skills and how you wish to contribute.

  • 1: A walking mode, like in the later tony hawk series. If possible with drift from t1 =].
    • 2: All the tricking abilities from thaw, and previous games. With an option to disable certain tricks [Like acid drops, bank drops getting in the way of spinning]
    • -All the trick animations similair to the th3-thug2 engine.
      • 3: Create a skater - Custom Clothes which others can see, full x,y,z scaling for every body part.

    • 1) Script files:
      • Open source code which is pre-compiled at game-start?
      • Make a pre-compiler and load the already pre-compiled files?

    • To know which kind of functions need to be available...
  • Cheat Protection
    • What for? Why don't we make it like 99% of all games...: Make everything be server-side instead of making the server a stupid HUB... That way, the client can pre-calculate stuff, the server validates it, and if the client says i jump 20 m high, he'll be "warped" back by the server SENDING his position instead of BROADCASTING what he GOT from the client...
    • The disadvantage would be, if i make a script with which i can throw Os ^^ the server wouldn't allow it :S

  • Why not make the skater collisions bone based, that way it's more accurate than a bounding box model and not as tedious as checking every polygon, since the skater would only have so many bones(~20?).
  • Here's a neat idea I've had, for displaying the status of the audio system(music) maybe have a little iPod or something pop up as part of the HUD and show song changes, volume changes, maybe even make it a GP2X or something ( :) ) and have personal messages appear on it or use it as an in-game console display? Endless possibilities :P
  • Maybe have a scripted single player mode, or multiplayer career mode where you can download other people's or make your own unique career path for people to try?
    • I think it would be pretty cool to mix the THPS game w/ other game genres and have storymode like missions where you need a team of players online to complete them and you would be able to make your own missions. Hehe I could just imagine mixing you Sniper idea w/ CTF or KOTH to protect flags/the crown since I love both FPS and THPS :)
  • I think certain scripts should be loaded from the server such as physics definitions, also an idea I had was selectable physics where the server could enable the players to choose between normal physics and any other physics definitions the server has(activated) such as maybe moon gravity and but terrible balance, or excelent balance and 10x gravity?

  • Playable in windowed mode
  • Have the alternate huds from t1 and ones from previous th games, as well as having them texture moddable.
  • Option to turn on/off music playing during pause
  • Weather/time of day options
  • Probably a pain in the ass, but it'd be cool to have ragdoll physics for hair and/or clothes to an extent. So if i do a trick like a handstand, my hair and shirt would flop down in accordance with gravity. It'd be way more realistic.
  • Adjustible hair length for cas's. So you'd choose the hair style then adjust the length.
  • In the CAP editor, have the ability to change the color of various pieces.

  • I mentioned this in tXo before, but I'll suggest it here too: Maybe allow the player to pick between different movesets, and in multiplayer games, let the host choose which movesets are allowed. For your project, I would go with these:
    • Pro Skater 3: Seeing as you're going for THPS3 physics, I'd keep actual the THPS3 moveset available, with no spine transfers, acid drops, wallplants, walking, or anything. Grinds on pointy objects result in kissing the rail. Leftover buttons are taunts. Bouncing is effective, and DAO is present in this mode only.
    • Sk8land: Add spine transfers, acid drops, leveling out, wallplants, berts, and automatic Natas Spin when grinding a pointy object. Leftover buttons are hotkeys for specials which change whether you're in the air, in a grind, or in a flatland trick. Lip trick balance is very easy.
    • Underground 2: Add spine transfers, acid drops, leveling out, sticker slaps, walking, graffiti tags, spacewalk, and anything else I'm missing that you can support. Grinds on pointy objects are either kissing the rail or Natas depending on if a spin button is held. Shuffling gives you a shuffle bonus instead of a multiplier. Don't anticipate any buttons to be left unassigned.

  • I would like to see a thing where you can customize your own games. Set up the score needed to win, teams, etc. Also, for the CAP, maybe a thing to choose the colors on objects. That would be nice.

Network Games

  • TEAM GAME: Everyone must work together to reach a certain Score/Tag limit.
  • RACE: You have to race on a certain sub course of a level, the player who finishes first WINS!
  • Long Trick: Alike the long jump event, situated in a sub course of a level, and whoever ollies/tricks the longest WINS!
  • Survive: The first player to complete a survivor map wins, or otherwise the person to get the furtherest, there will be checkpoints thoughout the level.
  • LINE: The first player to complete a certain line, in a single combo WINS!
  • GAP: The first player to complete a certain gap WINS!
  • HIDE'n'Seek: One player seeks and the rest hide, the hiders have a certain amount of time to hide, and the seeker must find and touch/slap the hiders by a certain time. (players will have ability to go inside objects?)
  • HIKE: The first player to get to a certain tough point inside a level WINS!
  • BALANCE: The player to hold a combo for the longest WINS!
  • Cat'n'Mouse: There is one BIG skater, everyone else is SMALL and must keep away from the BIG skater, the BIG skater must stomp all the SMALL skaters to WIN! otherwise the SMALL skaters WIN!
  • Mine Sweeper: One player is the bomberman (or maybe all can be?), who set a certain number of mines/bombs on objects before starting, players must then tag as many objects as possible without blowing up AND ya cant tag already tagged objects, once you are blown up your out of the game. The player who ends with the most tags WINS!
  • Sniper: One player is set up at a high point in the level, and must shoot down other skaters. The sniper must shoot down all players to WIN!, otherwise the skaters WIN!
    • You should make this work so that the players(not sniper) are always moving and bounce off of walls so there's no camping or corner hiding ^_^ -Reaper
  • GHOST: One player is the Ghost, who starts off almost invisible and must chase down and touch/slap other skaters, when ya hit a skater you grow and become more visible. The ghost must touch/slap all skaters to WIN!, otherwise the skaters WIN!
  • Speed Style: All players have an animal chasing them, (maybe you must get from one point in a level to another???) at a consistant speed (otherwise you will be eaten and taken out of the game), the player with the highest score/tags, at the end WINS!
  • Time Stoper: Everyone starts with a certain amount of time, when you score your time increases. The player to last the longest WINS!
  • PUCK: Everyone has a puck, each player must guide their puck to a goal and players can hit each others pucks. The player to reach the goal first WINS!
  • Keepings Off: Everyone works together to try and keep a flag away from one person, you pass the flag whenever you touch one another. The chaser wins by getting the flag, otherwise the keepers WIN!
    • For this game the chaser should have higher stats, or the keeper just has lower stats like the crown in KOTH or flags in CTF. -Reaper
  • Controller: One player starts as a GHOST, who must sneak and touch/slap a skater, and when ya do you can control them for one combo (or for a time limit?), you must then try and slap other skaters and take them out of the game. When all skaters are taken out of the game the ghost WINS!, otherwise the skaters WIN!
  • NEO Vs: One player is NEO and have super stats, NEO must then beat everyone elses score put together to WIN!, otherwise the skaters WIN! (maybe this game can be done without this specific mode?)
  • Jackass: You have a certain amount of life, whoever loses all their life first WINS!
  • Trick It: Tricks get shouted out (maybe one player calls tricks?), you must try and perform as they come and whoever ends with the highest score WINS!
    • You should make sure there's a set time limit between each trick that can be called out -Reaper
  • Monkey: Everyone starts with a certain amount of life, the monkey eats your brain and sucks your life away, also making you go burserk and gives you super stats. One person starts with the monkey, who must quickly pass the monkey onto another player, the player who lives the longest WINS!
  • Notes: When you are ghost, you look like Ollie the Magic Bum???

~Reaper

  • God Graff: One player is the god and gets 20 seconds head start, the god may only use up to 10,000 points per combo and must tag as many things as possible. If any of the god's tags are left he wins. The player with the highest score is the next god.
  • Tag: One person starts out as "it" and has to tag other skaters to make them "it". The skater who's "it-time" is the least after the given amount of time wins.(Opposite of King of the Hill)
  • WORD?: Like mix of HORSE and COMBO MAMBO, One person starts by getting as big of a combo as possible, if the next player can't get an equal or larger combo they get a letter(from a word the server chooses), but if they do get an equal or higher combo, that combo becomes the target combo for the next player. The player who spells out the word first is eliminated until one player is left. When any player gets a letter the target score is erased and a new one is set.
  • Pass the Stash: Team relay race, each team must get their "stash" to the end of the level first, and past obstacles(grind blockers, spike strips?, etc) and police officers(to prevent the stash pass :P). Any person from one team can slap a person from the other team, but no person can move out of their waiting circle until they have their stash.
  • The ground is made of lava!: Every object you touch turns to lava, the last player to stay out of the lava wins the game. Slapping is active and the lava will follow you so no camping!
  • Drag Race: The person who can skitch the longest wins.
  • Paintball?: You shoot stuff with paintball guns to tag them(idea from fuq-thps.com) and you could shoot other players to make them bail. The more times you shoot an object, the longer you have it? (1 person shoots something once and another shoots it twice, it goes to the second person)
  • Wicked Graff: Kinda complicated. The range you can score to make your score valid at the end of the game is within 5 tags of the LOWEST score. (Lowest score is 6, if you get 12 your score doesnt count). The one with the highest VALID score at the end wins.
  • Learn to swim: Water slowly rises out of the level's base, once it gets above your head you drown and get eliminated so you have to get to a high point in the level. You can slap the other players, maybe find secret items(randomly spawned) to float on or get temporary air bubble powerups or something(remember sonic ^^). Be the last one alive to win.
  • Brain Challenge Graff: A math problem appears on the screen with a timer and you must have at least as many tags as the answer to the problem before time runs out, if you dont you're eliminated. Each problem would be fairly simple with low answers, and each round someone is eliminated the problems get progressively harder? Last person in wins.
  • Brain Challenge Trick Attack: Same as above but the answer to the problems would be in the millions(or host-set). Getting a certain amount less or more than the answer will get you eliminated; if the answer were 2,475,930 and you got 20 million you'd be eliminated FOR NOT DOING THE MATH! :P

  • Combo Survival: Everyone gets 10 seconds to start a combo, and when you reach 0, you have to be in a combo, and whoever lasts the most after 0 wins the game.
  • Tricked Attack: Player's score is determined by the number of tricks performed multiplied by the length of time (in seconds) the player has stayed in a combo.

  • Losing-tricks: The same trick can only be repeated 3-times, then it's no longer available or the combo ends.

~Hitstun

  • Tron Graffiti: Objects instantly become tagged when tricked on. If you trick on an object that is already tagged by anyone, you are eliminated, but your objects stay tagged. Most tags when time runs out wins.
  • Bombing Run: A CTF variant ripped off from Unreal Tournament 2003/2004. The ball starts in the middle of the level, and the teams try to deliver this ball to the other team's goal (flag). The ball can be shot firefight-style and passed to teammates. A team is eliminated if their goal gets scored on a certain number of times. This can also be played with a time limit.
  • High Jump: A bar is placed above a spine, and players have 10 seconds to spine transfer over it. If they hit the bar or fail to transfer over it in 10 seconds, they're eliminated. Each round, the bar raises a little, and this repeats until only 1 player is left.
  • High Jump Attack: Whoever transfers the highest over the spine in the time limit wins.
  • Knockout: A classic CAP game. The game takes place on a platform and players try to knock each other off it. Players are eliminated when they hit the ground. Last man on the platform wins.
  • Spin Attack: Whoever spins the highest number of degrees in one combo wins. Count flatland trick spins as well. Spinouts are encouraged.
  • Wall Attack: If the engine supports wallplants, whoever does the most consecutive wallplants in one combo wins. If drifting, THUG1 wallplant cancels, or Sama plants are supported, they'll give you an edge over regular robot whores.
  • Huck Jam: Longest single non-bailed air time in a time limit wins.
  • OB Test: Whoever bounces off an invisible wall first wins! hehe

~Someone else

  • Graff Slap: This game is a Graff+Slap game you can win Whit Graff's and Slap's, 1Slap=1Point, 1Graff=1Point!

  • Graff Attack: Graffity and Trick-Attack mixed up: When you have the most tags, you get all your TA Points, with second most tags half TA point and so on...
  • Trick Graff: Same like Graff Attack, only reversed.
  • Team Attack: This is some different. Two (or more) teams play Trick Attack, BUT you just get points if at least two or more skaters of the same team use the same Obstacle. Bonus Points for doing the same trick or reversed Grind (Crooked-Overcrooked, Boardslide-Darkslide-lipslide, 5-o-Nosegrind, Smith-Feeble, Noseslide-Tailslide)

  • Score Elimination: Every 30 seconds-minute (depends what your settings are), the person with the lowest score is eliminated. Have the highest score until the last person other than you and you'll win.
  • Cage Match: Basically, it's slap. You and your opponents are set in an area and if you leave or get knocked out of the arena, you lose! Be the last one to survive to win.

  • Time Attack Mode: This Mode is possible with a few games above I think. For doing something you get + 5 seconds or something and the one who got the most time wins (you can't skate with no time).
    • Examples:
      • GAP: for finding a (new) gap +5 secs
      • Graff: for a graff +5 sec
      • Opposite of Graff: everyone got graffs and you get +5 secs for stealing a graff
      • Slap: for slapping so. you get +5 secs
      • anygame: for taking the lead +5 secs
  • Idea for Slap: We call it eat 'em all and if you 'eat' someone, he becomes very little and you see your skater eating the one you hit :)

  • Trophy Skate: there is a trophy in the level you must collect it and hit all the checkpoints and thew the finish to win, you need the trophy to register the checkpoints you slap the player with the trophy to collect it

  • I Match Your Trick (IMYT): One person nominates a trick at a certain spot, you have to nail it, then one-up. Pretty much the same as "Trick It" though. Just wanted to reiterate, I suppose.

  • Trick on Tape! (2 Player only) Like the goals on THP8, P1 Does one trick, P2 Has to do the same trick!.. Easy as that xD
  • 0WN3D? One person Tag 20 Objects, The other players have to skate the same line and get more points than the first player.
  • Skate Battle (Idea from Guitar Hero III) Just normal Trick attack, but the special meter is changed to a "Battle Power Meter" (This meter is based on the Special meter but its harder to fill it) once the meter i filled this person can press the attack button to attack another player with:
  • Force Bail (Makes the skater bail)
  • Screen Shaker^^

  • Online Letter Collecting One player place Letters in the level: S-K-A-T-E (Normal collect) C-O-M-B-O (Must Be in a combo) <SPELL THIS WORD> (You have to collect all the letters "Spell it") <SPELL THIS WORD COMBO> (Same as the other, but you have to take them in one combo)
  • Get There! Every player tag "one" object, We start with P1's object (First person to get there wins) then its P2's object... (Or maybe the person that gets there first, have to pick the new object?)

Script Mods / PowerUps

  • Big Mac: The bigger ya score, the fatter and slower you become
  • Rocket Ollie: You can do rocket ollies
  • Spider Skate: Skate on walls and ceiling
  • Holo Walls: You can pass through walls

  • Speed Control: If your combo getting higher, you will be faster/slower.

~Reaper

  • Powerups
    • Speed boost/reduction : Obvious
    • Balance boost/recuction : Again, obvious
    • Bananna Peel : Straight from Mario Kart, you get a bananna peel(or a bomb or something) to lay somewhere to make others bail or have a balance shift.
    • Auto Bail : You automatically bail when you get this one
    • Points Prize : You get a number of points added to/taken from your combo
    • Curse : Your skater has lowered stats for some time and random point reductions/bails; you can pass the curse to other people by slapping them
    • Slingshot : You get shot up into the air (while continuing combo) to get major points :D
