A Wiki about Wikis!

I've set up this entry on a WIKI to help me learn about WIKIs!

When thinking about how best to learn about Wikis I decided that it would be good to a) actually create an entry on one and b) use my wiki entry to help get answers to the questions I have about wikis! So here I am!

Here are my questions about wikis, can you help me answer them?

1. Who supplies the technologies for wikis and what capabilities do each offer? Who is the best?

The one I use the most is MediaWiki, which is the technology for both the Wikimedia Foundation (the Wikipedia guys) & BluWiki. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

2. How are organisations exploiting WIKIs? What business benefits are being realised?

3. What other related technology delivers similar or related benefits? What about blogs?

4. How, if at all, does WIKI technology integrate with other tools (eg Mapping)?

5. What environment needs to be in place to encourage/support exploitation? Especially in the corporate world?

6. What business & process changes need to be driven to enable appropriate exploitation?

7. What experience exists in implementing different peer-review processes, readership feedback and indicators (star ratings, etc) in order to generate high measures of confidence in the authoritative nature of material and opinions/interpretation presented.

8. What degree of effort is needed for different models of implementation?

9. What advice would you give on implementation strategy?

Above all, have fun. No-one will want to do it otherwise. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

10. If you are doing your own hosting, what technical environment is needed for a successful implementation?

11. What is the best way of going about a pilot? How easy then to expand that pilot to cover the operational enterprise?

Here, at BluWiki. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

12. How should I go about promoting my wiki entry so that others visit it?

Submit it to the search engines, get a [co.nr] account. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

13. What do I need to do to make this wiki entry look great? Please help me!

Ask me if you have any questions. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT). 13's an unlucky number, by the way, so:

14. Hello? Anybody there?

Nope. Microchip08 12:33, 3 May 2007 (EDT).
