McDonald's History

Brothers Dick and Mac McDonald from San Bernardino, California founded McDonald’s in 1948. Ray Kroc met the brothers in 1954 and opened the first McDonald's franchise the following year in Des Plaines, Illinois. Kroc, considered the founder of McDonald's, continued with the company and served as senior chairman of the board until his death in 1984.

By 1958, the restaurant famous for its golden arches had already sold its 100 millionth hamburger.

Although McDonald's started out as a drive-in restaurant, by 1962, the first McDonald's with indoor seating had opened. By 1965, McDonald's was 10 years old and offered its first public stock offering at $22.50 per share.

By 1965, there were 700 McDonald's restaurants across the United States. Ronald McDonald made his first TV commercial the following year and was an instant hit at the 1966 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Opening the First Store

McDonald's opened its first international restaurant in 1967; however, today, the restaurant famous for the Big Mac and the Happy Meal is operating in more than 100 countries. There are more than 32,000 McDonald's locations around the world that serve more than 60 million people each day. McDonald's employs more than 1.7 million individuals across the globe. While not every McDonald's restaurant is a franchise, 75% of them are.

McDonald's Coupons

Where to Get Coupons

According to the McDonald’s website, which is McDonalds.com, the company does not feature coupons on their website because their menu is already priced in such a way as to provide the best value to their customers. However, they acknowledge that some regional markets may have their own coupon programs, which is why we see McDonald’s coupons in the supplement section of our Sunday newspapers.

In addition, McDonald’s sometimes sends ecoupons by email so it is a good idea to subscribe to their newsletter so that you will be the first to learn about promotions and you will have the possibility of receiving occasional coupons in your email inbox.

McDonald's typically offers several Buy One Get One Free deals in their coupon offerings. For example, you may find coupons for a free Big Mac with the purchase of a Big Mac. Another example is a coupon for free drinks with any purchase or free fries and a free drink with the purchase of a particular sandwich.

Bonus Coupons

Another benefit to using McDonald's coupons is that sometimes, you’ll find coupons for free items with no purchase required. This is more typical when the restaurant debuts a new item, such as frozen strawberry lemonade.

It is not easy to find printable coupons for McDonald's. However, you can go to their Facebook page, click on Like, and then click on local. You will then be given the option to click to view a coupon, which you can then print. A typical coupon from the McDonald's Facebook page might be for $1 off any size frozen strawberry lemonade.

Purchasing Coupons

You can purchase McDonald's coupons from other coupon clippers on eBay or other sites, but it is important to note that these coupons are only good in the regional locations in which they are issued.

Therefore, before purchasing coupons, or paying for someone’s time to locate and clip them, make sure you are able to view the area that states where the coupon is valid. In addition, make sure you can clearly see the expiration date. In the meantime, Like them on Facebook and sign up for email updates so you can get your own coupons. In addition, check your Sunday supplement from time to time as well.
