Patrice Fa'amasi

From BluWiki

Template:Infobox Football biography Patrice Fa'amasi is a Vanuatuan football player from Port Vila who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Australian A-League club Newcastle United Jets FC.

Upon introduction to football at an early age, Fa'amasi immediately showed signs of real talent, though no one but his family were there to notice. Consequently, they sent him to Australia in 1999 after he was accepted into a youth academy squad.

He was noticed in 2007 by Jets manager Gary van Egmond and was given a place on their youth side. When new manager Vwaire Adekunde came on, he immediately brought Fa'amasi up into the first team. Fa'amasi made his debut during Round 10 of the 2008-2009 A-League Season, on 16 November against Queensland. He showed great pace during the match and delivered the great through ball that allowed Maximo Cox to complete a hat trick.

He scored his first goal during a Round 14 drubbing of Sydney FC at home. He scored the second goal in the 56th minute after being subbed in for Hugues Attilio. The match ended 4-1 in favor of Jets, and manager Vwaire Adekunde commented after the match that he felt the Vanuatuan had been "instrumental" in the result.

Fa'amasi has still not made a starting appearance for Jets.

Reportedly, he was asked on multiple occasions to play for the Australian U-17 side, but refused repeatedly, citing his allegiance to the country where he grew up.
