Picking up Stitches
From BluWiki
You pick up knit stitches differently than you pick up purl stitches. This is determined by whether you're moving the bump to the front (purl) or back (knit).
When you drop a stitch, you will have a yarn ladder above it.
An easy way to pick up stitches it to always have the knit side facing forward. The video shows how to pick up the purl side as well, if you prefer.
Insert your crochet hook, front to back into the stitch. The ladder should be behind the stitch.
Hook the lowest rung.
Pull it through the stitch.
Continue in this manner until all of your stitches have been picked up. The video showing this is here.
