Reverse loop cast on
From BluWiki
This is the simplest of all cast ons, but it doesn't give a decent edge and you can't use it for knitting in the round on account of the growing gap between the stitches that forms during the first row.
You make a slip knot on your needle and then wrap the yarn around your finger and put the new, twisted loop on the needle.
The video demonstrating this is here.
