A prank flash is a Macromedia Flash movie in the spirit of a shock site. The term usually does not include clips that are simply humorous with surprising jokes near the end, but that are specifically designed to startle the viewer and induce a 'jump' in their seat. The qualities of any shock flash may vary, although most have basic similarities. Other popular terms are screamers (which vary in length of time and contain a scream within the movie near the end) or ambush or sabotage flash (flash movies that deceive the viewer into interacting or watching intently before scaring them).
This article contains a long list of "prank flashes", growing all the time, many of which were listed here by their authors. Unfortunately, this list is incomplete... VERY incomplete... :'-( Please help us build it up! ^_^
Screenshots from the videogame Fatal Frame II are often used in screamers
Screamers
Usually the movies begin innocuously, sometimes with a mundane image or even a simple game or quiz designed to keep the viewer's attention on the screen (such as the infamous "What's wrong with this picture?"). Sometimes the image is accompanied by audio which is kept at a deliberately low level, so as to persuade the viewer to turn up the volume on their computer. The image itself may be small to force the user to maximize their browser window. Another technique is to play a song, prompting the user to turn up the volume, with the lyrics of the song scrolling up the screen. In pranks that are disguised as games, ks through curiosity.
Although Flash is the most prevalent medium for shock animations, there are others; there is an animated GIF showing a picture of an uncleaned room, and a ghostly lady walking into the room every 40 seconds [1], and there is a prank video that pretends to be a car commercial, used by the German firm K-fee for advertising purposes.
Also, parodies of such movies exist. One such uses a perfectly innocent smiley face as the shock object, another involves an unmanipulated photograph of Michael Jackson, and another has a poorly drawn monster accompanied by an annoying and weak voiceover.
The Big Screamers
Good Intentions
This Flash file pretends to be just a slide show of very pretty, peaceful photos but, after a while, a photo will come very slowly and all of a sudden it screams, and the Fatal Frame (that's Project Zero if you're British) image from Kikia (see below) covers it. It's not over yet, because after this it starts doing the complete opposite, showing scary and unpleasant pictures of murders, monsters, and more, and appears to be over, but after a short time, will scream again.

Kikia
Links:
This is the first prank flash to be widely spread and thus provide inspiration for other similar creations. It is one of the most popular and classic screamers. It originated on Taiwan's Kimo webhosting service from a person with the online username "Netspooky."
Summary
- Frame 1 (4 sec): In a cartoon, a boy sits on a lawn gazing at the sky. Two lines of Chinese text appear. A rough translation is "Hasn't it been a long time... / Haven't looked at the sky closely..."
- Frame 2 (4 sec): Shows the boy walking down a city street lined with buildings. A rough translation of the Chinese text is "Walking on the street... / You see..." (The first two scenes are accompanied by Utada Hikaru's soft rock pop ballad "First Love.")
- Frame 3 (2 sec): Shows a screenshot of the game Fatal Frame aka project zero during a piercing scream. It is a grayscale photograph of a ghost woman.
- Frame 4: The yellow text "Kikia" appears. The animation does not loop.
Steve Irwin Death Footage
At one point, this was the most popular video on Google. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1945368730233675374&q=Steve+Irwin+Stingray+Death
Subliminal Messages

Caution: Also contains suggestive sexual images.
This animation, sometimes known as "Subliminal Music and Images," is considered by many to be the scariest flash animation on the Internet (compare with Rubber Johnny). It has been distributed to many websites since 2002.
Summary
After loading, an advertisement for gin is shown. After a few seconds, part of the image is highlighted and the word "SEX" is visible. An image for a flooring company appears, with a woman appearing to be touching her shoulder. The image is then flipped, so it appears the woman is masturbating herself. Then a song, Cradle of Filth's "Dinner at Deviant Palace" begins to play backward. The Lord's Prayer is heard along with faint noises. In the middle of the prayer, a loud scream is heard, along with a flurry of pictures; some of a harlequin baby, and Rotten.com pictures. It ends with a message, "Never trust flash animations talking about subliminal stuff!"
Ghost TV
It is a scream flash that pretends to be a surveillance cam game to search for a ghost inside a house that was abandoned, you have an EVP monitor that will record a ghost message, sometimes you will hear "Help me." After searching a lot of rooms you will hear breathing and your screen will go snowy. After a few seconds, a ghost boy will appear and scream.

Murder Investigation
This is a mystery game where you have to find clues to see how a family of three was killed. Once you get all the clues you have to find the killer: if you don't find the killer in time he will find you and kill you, when he finds you a whole bunch of pictures will pop up. No scream, but a screech will sound. These pictures are of a puppet's face, a negative picture of the puppet's face, an eye, and a streched out mouth screaming. These also happen to be the images that appear if you beat the game. Clicking "Leave" at the beginning loads the site main page.

The "walk through" also features a blurry picture of a corpse's face that pops up with a loud screech randomly and briefly and says to turn up the volume for special audio clues.

Shake the Snowman
The point of this game is to shake the snowman until it throws up. After shaking the snowman several times he will throw up. Then the vomit will slowly zoom in to the screen. There are two versions of this prank, one containing the vomit slowly zooming in with the words "Happy Holidays" and a face from The Exorcist, and another, much milder version in which the vomit will 'jump' closer into a face of a happy gingerbread man, then have a really loud scream. Shake The Snowman ( Milder, gingerbread version.)
Urban Legends Series
Link: http://www.jkcinema.com/
A popular series distributed on the internet, which show mini documentaries providing evidence of the paranormal. Most, but not all, of the movies usually stop for 5 seconds, then an image of a ghost appears suddenly, accompanied by a very loud scream. Urban Legends 3: Ghosts, is considered to be the scariest out of the series, and indeed one of the creepiest movies on the internet, but the Urban Legends series are more like documentaries than screamers. It is considered the scariest because of the ghost photography: the image of the girl in the hallway, and the "Karma Ghost," the name attributed to the woman's ghost that pops up in the cluttered room.
Summary
It starts off normally, with a warning, and goes on to show ghost photography, ghost videos, and ITC. The first screamer hints to the viewer that ghosts may be haunting their computer monitor. 10 seconds later, a ghost girl pops up very briefly and is usually unseen. The movie continues with ghost EVP, then ends with a picture of an uncleaned room. The author tells the viewer to "LOOK CLOSER!!!!!" and then a loud scream and another ghost girl pops out from the door (this is actually derived from the animated GIF mentioned above - when using a Flash seek bar bookmarklet, the girl doesn't pop up).
Paranormal Activities 6
This flash pretends to be a paranormal activities video with ghosts and subliminal messages. It tells you that there was a death in the band Linkin Park. When it tells you to listen to one of their songs backwards, the song isn't very loud, so you supposedly have to crank up your speakers. After a few seconds a screaming girl will appear and also a picture of what looks like a demon.

Barney the Dinosaur
This screamer shows a picture of Barney the Dinosaur while his song plays, with some text saying that something is strange. After 20 seconds (soon after the words "dinosaur sensation") a negative image of a face screaming appears and a loud scream is heard. The flash is signed by a screen filled with Ha. Ha., the symbol [PP] and some laughter.

What's Wrong With This Picture? (Weasel Circus's version)
A clone of the infamous "What's Wrong With This Picture?", Weasel Circus have made their own version of this prank. You are shown a picture of a kitchen. Of course, there's nothing wrong with it. But you are told there's something wrong to make you stare hard. Then, in about 30 seconds, a distorted scream is heard, along with a close up of Frankenstein's monster. You are then told, "Hope we didn't startle you too bad!"

Jingle Bells Reversed
- Jingle Bells Reversed - Plays an excerpt of Jingle Bells, then plays it backwards. During the 3/4 mark of the reverse excerpt, a negative image of a man screaming suddenly pops up with a loud scream. The words "Hmm... It sounds slightly different in reverse. Hidden message? Who knows? I'm a bastard? Yes." appear at the end.
Where's Waldo
- Where's Waldo - shows a realistic Where's Waldo comic, then a white make-up like face from the movie "The Exorcist" pops up with a loud scream. Another version contains a harlequin fetus. (Note that Waldo was nowhere in the scene, but Odlaw and Wenda were both in it.)
The Exorcist face version: **http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/waldo.php
Other Screamers
Some other screamers include (in alphabetical order):

Are You Colourblind
- Are You Colourblind? - Pretends to be a colorblind test, but, after clicking on the enter button on the third question, a picture of an infected eye pops up with a chaotic scream.
Are You Going To Heaven or Hell?
- Are You Going To Heaven or Hell? - This 'quiz' supposedly tells you whether you're going to Heaven or Hell. However, no matter which answers you pick, when the calculation bar is 3/4 loaded, a caption suddenly reads "You're going to HELL!!", on a frightful background of Hell, the Devil is jumping around, he yells in an evil frenzy voice: "WAWAWAWAWAWA!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHH, DIIIIIIIIIEEE!!!!!" Then shouts in a normal voice, "Ouch!" Soon there's the typical LG Sabotage caption with a link to the LG site and a site called "Okay, Amigo".
Beach
- Beach - This screamer shows a picture of a beach, with a little girl on the corner of the picture, telling a story of a man named Eduardo Juncosa, who was brutally murdered by a tribe called the Chuunquitos 69 years ago on Monkato Beach in South Africa. Seconds after the text invites the viewer to find his ghost on the picture, a computer-animated man's face with some mottled blood on him appears with a loud scream.
Bobbing for Apples
- Bobbing for Apples - In this game, you play as a vampire and try to bob for apples. However, after four apples are caught, a razor gets stuck in the vampire's gums, he starts screaming, and blood covers the screen. (Part of Liquid Generation's Sabotage line.)
Chris the Jack-O-Lantern
- Chris The Jack-O-Lantern - a (deliberately?) crudely-animated Halloween cartoon featuring a sad jack-o-lantern, who says "Hi kids, my name is Chris. You guys know what Sunday is? Yeah, that's right. Sunday is Halloween. It makes me upset. Know why it makes me upset?" Then he pauses until you click on him. Then he says, "Yeah, because Sunday is the day that..." then comes a "ghostly" cartoonish face with a rather loud scream. Chris' comments date this prank to 2004 (as Halloween fell on a Sunday that year).
Clock Crew Quiz
- Clock Crew Quiz - A test which involves a series of questions, all of which gives the following choices: "Strawberry Clock," "Josh Bedn," "Tom Fulp," or "George Bush." First Question: Who is king of the Portal? Answer: Strawberry Clock. Second Question: Who was the first clock? Answer: Strawberry Clock. Third Question: Who is from Canada? Immediately after the question is revealed, a image of a distorted woman's face will appear with a scream. The Clock Crew of the title is a reference to a group of people who make Macromedia Flash animations on Newgrounds (where this prank is hosted), with "Strawberry Clock" referring to the person who started it all [2]. This might be the oldest prank ever submitted in Newgrounds.
Color
- Color - This is actually a real game, but it's pretty scary. During the game, when you run out of time or make a mistake, a close-up picture of a baby with his mouth open appears with a loud scream with the words "game over, thanks for playing."
Corpses of the III Reich
- Corpses of the III Reich - A TotallyGames.com production, this Flash game is a horror platforming game, but as an added twist, at points during the game zombies will pop up on screen to break your concentration.
- http://www.totallygame.com/game.php?type=game&id=2085 Flash demo of game containing random screamers.
Counting Sheep
- Counting Sheep - asks you to count cartoon sheep jumping over a fence while warning you not to fall asleep, but, after five sheep jump, it shows a flurry of pictures of injured sheep and sheep carcasses over a roar before cutting to the credits frame, which also has text saying "LOSER." and "omg u suck" (as well as a button to play again) on it.
The Cutest Puppies on the Web
- The Cutest Puppies on the Web - you can view a gallery of cute puppies, but after the sixth picture an older dog pops up with continouous barking. A Liquid Generation Sabotage.
Darnkness
- Darkness - This is a game with multiple shocks in it. These are a hand grabbing the screen, a ghost appearing in a mirror, a shower, (all complete with screams) and on a T.V, and a hand suddenly hitting a shower door. Plus, it has a sequel that contains a ghost that appears every ten seconds (a scream appears if it catches up to you) and its bloodied face slowy appears on the screen (a scream is also heard if gets all the way up), lights falling in the pharmacy, and a scream is heard when a key is put into a clock.
- Darkness: http://online.sector.sk/hra.aspx?game=1368
- Darkness 2: http://online.sector.sk/hra.aspx?game=1362
DeathClock Test
- DeathClock Test - This "test" asks you questions and is supposed to say when you will die. After you answer all of the questions, the words "calculating..." appear, and suddenly a bloodied woman with knives in her (a screenshot from the movie, Basket Case) appears with a scream. The words "Hahahaha, sorry" appear at the end.
- (Currently Inactive) http://www.kreepykingdom.com/pranks/deathclock.html
Don't Touch the Walls
- Don't Touch the Walls - This game gets the user's attention by presenting a game where the challenge is to get to the red area with your cursor while not touching the walls. Usually, there is note saying that few people have completed the game to intrigue you further. There are three levels in all, and after one finishes the 3rd level, the girl from the Exorcist appears on the screen and lets out a blood-curdling scream, and if you touch the wall near the end of level 3 where the level gets progressively thin, it will still surprise you. To cheat, hold down the mouse and drag it to the red area. Similar to "Steady Hand" (Down)
El Misterioso Juego de las Melodias
- El Misterioso Juego de las Melodias - Despite being hosted on a Spanish "museum of horror" site, this supposed game of "name that tune" (in cell phone ringtone form) is in English (complete with recommendation to turn up your volume to hear the tunes, which are played at a very low volume). A grizzled man with spiky hair pops up during the third question with a short scream. Although not part of Liquid Generation's "Sabotage" line, the words "You've been sabotaged" appear along side the grizzled man as he gives the finger.
Escape the Spooky Room
- Escape The Spooky Room - This prank shows a picture of a rather poorly drawn room, in which you're supposed to find a way out of (like a game called "The Crimson Room" [3]). However, clicking on anything has no effect at all and, after about half a minute, a creepy shadow is shown moving across the floor. Upon waiting a few more seconds, a rather scary picture of a deformed person's face leaps onto the screen, accompanied by a woman screaming.
The Fact About Sajjad Ali
- The Fact About Sajjad Ali - Uses soothing music from a Pakistani pop singer Sajjad Ali. Text appears over a picture of Stonehenge describing the song played in the flash, "Paniyon Mein", followed by some Romanized Hindi. A female zombie face suddenly zooms out to a scream, covering the Stonehenge picture.
Family in Egypt
- Family In Egypt - This flash is by a guy called Dan, also known as Dycaite. The flash begins with a picture of a man and a baby standing in front of a sandhill. It then begins to explain how they noticed something strange in one of their photos. Another block of text appears, and about 5 seconds later a picture from Rubber Johnny pops up accompanied by a scream. It then says 'By Dycaite XD', followed with his email address. The song in the background is "Zepp Overture" by Charlie Clouser.
Fright Gauge
- Fright Gauge - Tells you that the "'Find the Fiend' Gauge (patent pending) is designed to measure your visual activity. Studies have shown that sight plays a major role in our ability to sense the weird, strange, and supernatural. People with higher-than-average perception skills, studies show, are more likely to notice paranormal phenomena. To test your visual activity, see if you can spot the ghost hiding in one of these windows..." The text fades, and after about 8 or 9 seconds into the "Fiend Gauge," a zombie will appear with a scream. Then some text will appear, reading "did you see it?" and a button to play the prank over again.
Gamemun
- Gamemun -This flash is a very simple one, but startling. The purpose of this one is to fool people into thinking they're going to play a game. A loading screen is shown, then a screen giving the option to choose "1 Player" or "2 Players". After either one is chosen, a female face is shown in white makeup (which can be viewed on sfogs.com) and red eyes with a scary noise. The picture zooms in and out.
The Hand-Eye Coordination Test
- The Hand-Eye Coordination Test - This "test" is divided into "five" parts, the "first" three involving "swatting" a fly by clicking on it (Sight & Speed Visualization), pressing buttons that flash red (Reaction Time), and following a dot tracing an "S" outline (finger dexterity). The other two parts (Perceptual Accuracy and Near Point Stereopsis) are not actually part of this flash: halfway through the finger dexterity test, a "bleeding" eye (actually a photo of a normal eye with animated red blobs simulating blood superimposed) appears out of nowhere, and a loud frenzied voice followed, "AAGGGHHHHHHH, MY EYE! OUCH! OUCH!" Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line. A good thing to note is that your percentage of Accuracy during the "S" finger dexterity test does not decrease even if you do not follow the do, and is not affected in any way.
Happy Happy Halloween!
- Happy Happy Halloween! - pretends to be a TV show with dancing faces. At the part where a picture of a pumpkin keeps flashing on the TV, a scary zombie jumps up from the upper left with a scream.
Home Color Vision Deficiency Test
- Home Color Vision Deficiency Test - pretends to be an eyesight test, showing colored circles forming numbers on a backdrop of differently colored dots, similarly to a standard colorblind test, but after several questions are answered, a scream will sound and a voice will whisper "I see dead people!" along with a picture of a bloodied woman with knives in her face from the movie Basket Case.
- Also, a "Sabotage" version of this prank exisits, except it uses the same scream from "Inkblot test" only louder. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/vision.php
- There's yet another Color Test, but this time they use a different picture: a scary blurred picture of a woman up close. Also they use the same scream from "Say It." http://www.freeonlinegames.com/play/1560.html
HOT DIRTY FURRY GIRLS (A.K.A Sad Jerry)
- HOT DIRTY FURRY GIRLS (A.K.A Sad Jerry)- A Newgrounds animation that starts out with a cemetery with a soft song from Queen ( We Are The Champions) in the background. It zooms into a tombstone that says, " We all miss Jake Silvburg...rest in peace." A blue man walks up to the tombstone and sheds a tear. The screen fades out. Then it shows a quick image of the blue man cutting his wrists, and one second later, goes to a flashing black and white background with a text-based frown, a mutilated cartoon head hanging and swinging from a hook with an ear-shattering scream. This does not loop. Note: this screamer's scream is notably louder than most of the others on this list. The scream is still loud on the lowest volume setting, so we reccommend that you turn your speakers way down for this one.
How to Carve a Pumpkin
- How to Carve a Pumpkin - A Liquid Generation prank, this one tells you how to carve a virtual pumpkin. When you use your knife on the pumpkin, it screams, eyes jump out of it, blood sputters all over, and its mouth opens while its tongue sticks out.
How to Cook a Turkey
- How to Cook a Turkey - A Liquid Generation prank, this scare is similar to "How to Carve a Pumpkin." When you try to add stuffing to the turkey, its face jumps to your screen and screams. Then it backs a bit and says "You could've at least bought me dinner first!"
How to Make Your Own Beer-Powered Air Conditioner
- How to Make Your Own Beer-Powered Air Conditioner - the most disturbing Liquid Generation Sabotage you would ever see. There are step-by-step instructions on how to make a beer-powered air conditioner. However, after step 10, a disturbingly fat and naked woman pops up with a scream and says "you can sit on the back of my fat as and I'll cool you off on one of my amazing spots". Unlike other Liquid Generation pranks, there's no ninja and the Sabotage song.
Hypnotic Sequence
- Hypnotic Sequence - This game tells you that you can be hypnotized be doing this flash. After you click "Start Hypnotic Sequence," a red background with a black swirl will start to appear. In a couple of seconds, you hear a voice talking to you. After a short while of the swirl spinning, a picture of an eye with a red filter over it pops up with a loud scream. Then the words "HA! HA! GOTCHA!" appear.
- http://www.absolu-flash.com/horror-games/index.php?rubrique=peur (Scroll to bottom of page)
Inkblot test
- Inkblot test - shows several commonly used inkblots, first showing the inkblots and with a button to reveal the question. Upon viewing the fourth screen showing and inkblot, the animation will abruptly cut to a genuine picture of Michael Jackson, accompanied by a scream, interrupted by a coughing fit (seemingly appropriate for a screamer spoof). Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.
Jessica Alba Nude
- Jessica Alba Nude - shows a picture of movie star Jessica Alba supposedly topless, although the picture loads slowly and eventually stops before the "main attraction" (all this is in fact simulated via Flash animation). After a few seconds, a female vampire from the film Fright Night pops up with a scream. This, in fact, uses the same frightening image as the screamer described below, Zoeken.
K-fee Auto
- K-fee Auto, aka "Lexus", and "Mist or Ghost?" - a scary video disguised as a car commercial. A car is pleasantly driving along a countryside road, then disappears. The music isn't as loud so you need to turn your speakers up. Suddenly, a zombie pops up taking up nearly 3/4 of the screen, and a distorted scream plays. This is best known as a commercial for K-fee energy drinks in Germany. An alternate framing device for the video to trick viewers into watching is that this is a car commercial that was never put on TV because production noticed some ghostly white mist coming up from behind the car and then following it along the road (there is in fact no ghostly white mist to be seen).
Liquid Generation's What's Wrong With this Picture
- Liquid Generation's What's Wrong With this Picture - shows a picture of the inside of a wooden house, while the text below is asking you to find out what's wrong with the picture. After a few seconds, an evil mask zooms onto you with a scream. Then it disappears and the word "Boo" appears. There's another one where you look in a picture of a black and white bedroom. After a few seconds the picture shifts to part of a woman's face with a scream (the scream is the same one featured in the Optical Illusions Sabotage), then the bedroom again.
The London Dungeon
- The London Dungeon - This video prank starts with the words "The footage you are about to see is absolutely genuine and was captured by CCTV cameras at the London Dungeon." It then says "Look very closely and you will see a mysterious ghostly figure. The video has been thoroughly analysed by experts but they have so far offered no explanation as to what it is." It then shows, what appears to be, two fuzzy seperate security camera images with the words "MAIN EXT JACK ENT" on the left and "PRIS DR" on the right. The time of 05:59:50 with the date 20-11-04 is displayed at the bottom. The image goes fuzzy for a moment and the time advances to 10:09:43. You can also see, what appears to be, a janitor holding a broom walk out of range of the camera on the left. At 34 seconds into the video a guy, wearing white makeup, jumps up and fills the entire screen and yells "YEEEAAAHHH!!". He then descends into oblivion. The screen then says "Did you spot it?".
Madium
- Madium - This animation is a parody of the Newgrounds Submission Lilium. The animation starts off with Sad Jerry, then on the next frame, the animation shows a yellow guy with an angry face. Then the next 2 frames are text with what Sad jerry says (blue) and what Madium says. Then after the second Frame, there will be a decapitated head of Sad Jerry falling along with a loud distorted scream, then there would be a [seizure] inducing clip with a bouncing cartoon head and a rectangle.
Mario Screamer
- Mario Screamer - This isn't a true flash animation, but a screamer none the less. It is 51 seconds long and plays the Super Mario Theme through most of it. at 44 seconds though, the Winamp Face appears and text spells out "YOU'VE been pranked"
Meaning Of Life 2006
- Meaning Of Life 2006 - The animation states it is a serious Flash and apologizes for a quiet music rip. It appears to be a rather substandard Flash presentation talking philosophically about the meaning of life. After several frames, a picture of a skull boiling in a gorey goo-like substance appears accompanied with a continuously looping scream.
Numa Numa Bros/Numa Numa Dance Bros
- Numa Numa Bros/Numa Numa Dance Bros - Once was a parody of the Numa Numa dance until the file was swapped with another movie. The new movie tells about the abuse of the Numa dance. He was supposedly the fifth creator of a Numa parody, and after the fifth parody, it would be a disgrace to the original. The screen lengthens out while it gives an explanition of this. When the words 'And for those who like Numa Numa parodies please..beware' appear, a drawing of a zombielike creature will appear with a scream. Unlike the Clock Crew Quiz, this is not rated All Ages.
(Note, both animations were blammed.)
Online Hunting
- Online Hunting- Starts off making you believe that professional hunters have set up "State-of-the-Art" cameras in the woods that can be used to hunt. When you click "Play" a screen is seen with a loading screen that says things like "Connecting To Host". After this an area of land is shown and a deer can be closely examined in the grass. After zooming up on it,taking a shot will result in a picture to pop up of a deer with a scream. (The deer has some kind of Satanic sybol on its head) The first scream is long, and then another little "Ahh!" in a high pitched sound will be heard. Another "Sabotage" from Liquid Generation.
Optical Illusions
- Optical Illusions- Starts off with the words "Optical Illusions" and a mosaic transition to an illusion. Six illusions are shown. During the sixth illusion, which asks you to look at a circle for 10 seconds, a picture of a rat with its mouth open is shown with a scary scream. Once again, this is a Liquid Generation "Sabotage".
Origami Fortune Teller
- Origami Fortune Teller - pretends to be a fortune teller. However, after it says "Pick a color and get your fortune" and you click on a color, an evil clown face pops up with evil laughter.
The Paris Hilton Game
- The Paris Hilton Game -A game that tells the viewer to do a simple task, control a large circle to a square also avoiding several balls bouncing from side to side. There is also a picture of Paris to the right of the screen, chaning outfits every so often. After many levels, a picture of a woman with pasty skin comes into screen and emits a frightening noise while the screen expands and contracts quickly.
The Pope's Blessing
- The Pope's Blessing - there will be a series of prayers during this movie. However, when you see the word "unless..." the pope's hand will electrify, his eyes will change color, and suddenly, Emperor Palpatine will pop up in a dark, evil background with a long scream, then stops, then a short scream. Then one of the Star Wars musics plays. A Liquid Generation Prank.
The PriceRight Collection/ Showcase
- The PriceRight Collection/ Showcase - An animation part of The Price is Right Collection. It shows a regular showcase run of the show but after Bob Barker says "She costs $8.47 a pound.", a creepy picture of Michael Jackson pops up. The other parts, however, are not pranks, but the animation itself contains crude sexual content.
Persistence of Vision
- Persistence of Vision Tester - The viewer is prompted via audio instructions to stare into a small black dot within a white background. During this time, phrases such as "Continue concentrating on the dot" appear. Two black lines appear above and below the dot, respectively, and the viewer is instructed to concentrate on these as well. Within 30 seconds, the dot transforms into a skull, and a scream is heard.
Say It
- Say It- This one features lyrics to a bubblegum pop song, "Say It" by The Kumbia Kings, scrolling up the screen along with an excerpt from the song, before a blood-curdling scream and a girl from the movie The Exorcist covers the screen.(Alternatively titled :"Watch This!" and other names of that nature.)
ScreamoPi
This is an amateur screamer. All it has is basically some guy shouting half-naked for a very long period of time. Visit the site here: YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!.
Secret Michael Jackson Audio Tape
- Secret Michael Jackson Audio Tape - this Liquid Generation prank involves a recorded phone conversation between Michael Jackson and a boy. However, after Michael Jackson says "do you want to come over and punch me in the butthole?" a picture of Kevin pops up with a scream.
Solid Sharkey's Polybius Page
- Solid Sharkey's Polybius Page- all about Polybius, the arcade game of urban legend. The picture that says "Polybius" near the top of the article is actually a Flash animation that occasionally will suddenly show yet another Fatal Frame screenshot, accompanied by a loud scream. The page actually gives this away, for in the part on how Polybius could be made and what should be featured, an excerpt for this part reads "Interrupting the game with a screaming horror like the one on the top of this page (which probably just cost me a few friends)...".
Sports Fitness Test
- Sports Fitness Test - similar to the Hand-Eye Coordination Test, where you catch a ball, move some football player using the left and right arrow keys as many times as possible, and moving your cursor along with the soccer ball tracing on a long line. However, in the middle of the course, a picture of Mike Tyson eating pasta with his mouth open pops up with a scream. Another Liquid Generation Sabotage.
Steady Hand
- Steady Hand- from Japan, this "game's" objective is to go to the "goal" without touching the black space. The first level operates as a normal game, and will result in a game over if lost. However, on the second level, always at the same place on the course, an image of a deformed person will pop up with the same scream as the Jessica Alba Nude and Zoeken screamers.
Taken
- Taken - shows a boy watching a news report on TV about a series of attacks. The report then cuts out, replaced by a test card and the test signal. A few seconds later, a demon smashes through the window and pulls the boy through. Created by animator Adam Phillips.
Test Your Alertness
- Test Your Alertness - Another flash by Dycaite, this time it asks you to read through a paragraph and pick out mistakes. After a while a picture of the Exorcist girl pops up with a scream. The words "Gotcha Bitch. ~Dycaite" appear on the screen.
Trick Or Treat
- Trick Or Treat- Starts out saying "Happy Halloween, from a friend" After this the word "Choose" comes down from the screen. There are two options,"Trick" or "Treat". When "Treat" is clicked a group of dancing dogs with funny suits appears with a funny song in the background. After this, it comes back to the "Choose" screen. When "Trick" is clicked however a picture of a head appears covered in a yellow substance. The words "YOU ASKED FOR IT STUPID" appear with the selection to play again or send to a friend. This is part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.
Valentine's Day
- Valentine's Day - Another one in the Liquid genration sabotage line. In this one, you have to click on the chocolates in a box, and eventually you partially uncover naughty pictures of snowmen(listed on other websites.). After you click on a chocolate, it will disappear as though it is being eaten. After 7 chocolates are eaten, a picture of a baby's body with wings and a monster head on it will pop up and scream "AHHH! I LOVE YOU!" Then a link to the site will pop up with their signature sabotage theme song.
Webcam Photo
- Webcam Photo - Tells the user to look into the on-screen webcam and that a photo will be generated. After 20 seconds a version of the Crypt Keeper's face appears accompanied by a screech.
What is Wrong With This Picture?
- What is Wrong With This Picture? - Shows a simple picture of a room, inviting the viewer to look for (non-existent) errors or things out of place. After 30 seconds, a picture of a distorted head without eyes flashed in with a loud scream in the background. Some pages carrying (or linking to) the prank tell the viewer to turn up the volume to hear clues, thereby enhancing the scream even more. Other, slightly more comical versions of these exist, simply showing a man screaming on a roller coaster, for example.
What's Wrong with this Picture? (Version 5)
- What's Wrong with this Picture? (Version 5) Another WWWTP screamer, only with a different picture (a living room) and different screamer image (mouse image, which is the same one as the Optical Illusions sabotage) and sound.
When Will You Die?
- When Will You Die? - (From the Liquidgeneration Sabotage line) A quiz that supposedly tells you how and when you will die by asking you simple questions. After these questions, it shows a box that generates your type of death, although it says the same one every time (you will die from a heart attack) then has the same box that chooses your date of death. After a couple of seconds, the words "you will die TODAY!" will appear with a loud scream and a picture of a bloodied man,(in a different version),with glasses. Then the text "Just kidding" appears, and a button that says "Get your real death date." When you click, it will start to generate your date. Below the text "You will die:", the word "NOW!" suddenly pops up, and a man spewing what looks like green vomit will appear on the screen. This is followed by the text "You've been Sabotaged," as well as a link to the website and a button to play the prank over again.

- Another version, which shows the bloodied man during the part where you find out your death date for the first time: http://www.computerpranks.com/download/programs/fun/swf/sabotage/death.swf
White Christmas Game
- White Christmas Game - Tells you to wipe all of the fog off of the window to discover the secrets of the holidays. As soon as you click "PLAY", you have a hand in which you use it to wipe off the fog. No matter how much you wipe it off, it always comes back. During various times, you will see Santa Claus appear as a blurry figure. It will disappear if you wipe it or you just wait. On the last time Santa will be right up to the window. After a couple of seconds, a zombie Santa Claus (superimposed with an image of an evil jack frost, and a zombie santa figure holding an axe) will break through the window with a loud scream. There is a slight pause, then the zombie will scream again in a higher voice. Part of the Liquid Generation "Sabotage" line.
- The scream is different in SubliminalMessages.com's version. http://www.subliminalmessages.com/money_140.htm
Zoeken
- Zoeken - This Dutch prank ("Zoeken" is a Dutch word for "search") asks you to find the three differences between two (actually identical) pictures. After a short while, a picture of a woman from the movie Fright Night (uses the same image as the shock item as the "Jessica Alba Nude" screamer) suddenly appears, zooming in and out a few times over a roar, before heading to the end portion with a picture of SpongeBob SquarePants and the sound of Spongebob laughing.

Non-screamers
Not all prank flashes are designed to shock the viewer with a shock object and scream. The following examples either use other things to provide the shock, or do not shock at all.
The Big Non-screamers
ABC Song
Link: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/abcsong.php
The alphabet song is heard, with the letters morphing into each other. After it says "next time won't you", a flashing number 5 comes up over the whole picture with a voice screaming "FIVE!" After clicking the 5, text comes up talking about this actually happening during a syndicated rerun of Sesame Street due to a fault at the television station broadcasting it. After clicking the screen, the Flash plays again.
Lindsay Lohan/Paris Hilton phone conversation
Link: http://media.ebaumsworld.com/lohanhilton.mp3
This prank works the same as the screamers, except it intends to embarrass rather than frighten the victim. The audio clip is of a supposed conversation between Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton played at a very low volume, prompting the listener to turn the volume all the way up in order to understand what they are saying. Near the end of the clip, a male voice exclaims very loudly, "I love gay porn! I'm watching gay porn right now! I hate my job because I love gay porn!"
The apparent aim of the prank is to attract unwanted attention from people near the listener, such as in the home or at the office.
You Are An Idiot
Link: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/you.html (beware, this is the prank itself!) http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare.php (the actual Flash file; does not cause popups)
Albino Black Sheep is one of the many sites hosting the popular "you are an idiot" prank, in which pop-up windows saying "you are an idiot" bounce around the screen; the windows continuously spawn and it's impossible to close them all using the mouse. These pranks are usually not functional in browsers other than Microsoft Internet Explorer and are impaired by the presence of a popup blocker or a virus scanner. The popups can be avoided by pressing the 'back' button on the browser rather than closing the window. Ending the IEXPLORE process in Windows's task manager via ctrl-alt-del also effectively quashes the pop-ups. It is also possible to end the popups by holding Alt-F4 until all the windows are closed, but this risks accidentally closing one or two windows too many.
Red Room
Link: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley/4358/red_room1.html
Red Room is not a prank as such; there is no real "shock" as defined in this article, it is simply a horror story, albeit one with an unexpected ending. It is a Flash video, entirely in Japanese, about an urban legend called "the Red Room," a popup window that allegedly will result in the death of the viewer if closed. The protagonist in the video searches on the internet for proof of its existence, only for the results to go horribly awry. The "shock" comes after the movie ends, when the Red Room popup appears on the user's desktop and begins acting as depicted in the video.
This Flash is said to be the favorite of "Nevada-tan," the 11 year-old girl who slit her classmate's throat on 1 June 2004 in Sasebo, Japan.
Note: ensure you have Flash player version 7.0.19.0 (click here to check your version) or higher, or you will receive an error page in Japanese.

Sexy Birthday dance
Link: http://sugarqube.com/Ecards/CardView.cfm?CardID=485&L1=19&L2=208&L3=0&Page=
First, it asks you to type your first name inside the text box. Once you do, you will see a nude woman's back and she will start dancing. After a few seconds, she will turn around and "she" is actually a man and has a heart on his chest which will have the name you typed.
Other Non-screamers
5-Minute De-Stress & Relaxation
- 5-Minute De-Stress & Relaxation - This prank has a female voice giving you instructions on how to remove stress. However, after she says "Close your eyes," the screen switches to a picture of Britney Spears, as well as a series of messages and a second counter. The female continues to give instructions. At the 31st second, the female voice seems broken, but then is replaced by a song. At the 40th second the screen changes to one more message, "Now get back to work!", as well as the replay button. This prank is meant to attract other people.
Computer Virus
- Computer Virus - it pretends to be a game, but when you click on the button you see an MS-DOS like screen. It then proceeds to the directory by itself, and then it "deletes" the hard drive. Then the words "your hard drive has been deleted" display, and after a few seconds the words "just kidding" appear.
Crazy Illusion
- Crazy Illusion - A prank where you see a series of shapes and letters, which is not an illusion. A few seconds later, a mooning person starts to appear while farting, making a soft-sounded fart. After that the words "APRIL FOOLS" displays with a laugh.
The Flash Mind Reader
- The Flash Mind Reader - This involves you choosing a two-digit number, adding together the two digits, and subtracting that from the original number (which always results in a multiple of 9). There is a series of symbols next to numbers (the same symbol is used for each multiple of 9). You click on the globe, and it reveals one of the symbols (the symbol for each multiple of 9) along with text and a try again button. The text reads, "Can't believe it? Click the button to try again." Despite being free of shock, it is, however, listed in Albinoblacksheep's list of popular pranks.
Focus
- Focus - tells the viewer to look at the checkered oblong oval for 20 seconds. The flash is disguised as an illusion, and while you look a picture of a huge bottom appears, with a fart sound accompanied. After two seconds, followed by the words "Haha, gotcha didn't I?", the prank file loops.
Handprint
- Handprint - tells you to place your hand on a big square. After having your hand "scanned" and being analyzed, the results are that "you are an amazingly gullible person with fingerprints on your screen."
Not Scary
- Not Scary - This parody of screamers (in particular, the "What's Wrong" screamer) shows a picture of a kitchen, and a poorly drawn monster with the word "scary" and an arrow pointing to it pops up a few times making "boogity boogity" and "nyah" noises, and then says, "All right, I'm done. You can go away now. Boogity, boogity, boogity!" Surprisingly the flash is actually "Not Scary" It is made by Brandon Sachs.
Personality Test
- Personality Test - A test that asks the viewer questions to see if they have a good personality or not. This flash asks you ten questions. After typing in an answer, the voice will give some kind of response (which in fact will be the same (i.e., if it asks you for your name, no matter what response it is, it responds back with 'This name is so you.')). After the tenth question, it will tell you it is calculating your score. After a couple of seconds, it says "YOUR PERSONALITY SUCKS!" This is followed by the Liquid Generation Sabotage end caption (described above in Collections).
Seal
- Seal - This flash shows a seal explaining that she loves you so much. Then after she says, "From a very special friend", a flashing backround with,"www.Analsex.com", typed down appears and a males voice yells out, "Analsex.com! ALL ANAL!!! ALL THE TIME!". This is another prank that ends with the Liquid Generation Sabotage end caption. It is ment to attract unwanted attention rather than scaring you.
Secret Celeb Exposed
- Secret Celeb Exposed - shows a picture of a sexy woman. But when you click on it, the picture zooms out and turns slowly, finally revealing a man. Then the words "You're gay!" along with the same man pointing at you display.
Sony Picture Taking
- Sony Picture Taking - Similar in concept to (but much less scarier than) the Webcam Photo screamer, with a manipulated photo of a baby and repeated "Nyah's" substituting for the Crypt Keeper and the scream.
