Hey, saw your question at Talk:Sam Odio. You successfully uploaded Image:SysDesignHierarchy1.png and Image:SysDesignDFD7v1.png. What kind of trouble are you having? —"Bear" 06:54, 30 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Its not really trouble, more curiosity. I know I can upload images but I was wondering if I could upload other stuff ie. in this case a Visio file. I know that its a slipery slope arugement for usage, but I thought it could be useful. Chotchki 09:37, 30 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Chotchki, your comment prompted me to add vss, vsx, txt, doc, and pdf as recommended file formats. If there are any file types that you would like to upload, please let me know. Enjoy. --Sam Odio 09:38, 1 Oct 2005 (EDT)

  • Okay thank you Chotchki 10:44, 3 Oct 2005 (EDT)

You've created some useful-looking templates. We don't seem to have any rules about templates yet, but I'm a little protective of templatespace. I'd appreciate it if you took the trouble to document your templates with {{doctl}}. Thank You!"Bear" 08:53, 17 Nov 2005 (EST)

  • I pulled those templates directly from the wikipedia, should I just link to their doc pages? Chotchki 10:27, 17 Nov 2005 (EST)

It might be better to maintain our own docs. It's okay, though, to copy the WP docs when we copy WP templates -- indeed, it saves a lot of work. But later, our templates may change or WP may go out of business. So we should have our own docs on our own wiki. — "Bear" 05:58, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

Sysop Privileges

Chotchki*, Please take a look at The role of a sysop & its talk page. Is this something you would be interested in doing? If so, leave me a note. --Sam Odio 20:14, 4 December 2005 (EST)

This note was intended to be addressed to you - though as you noticed Graeme is receiving the same offer as well. --Sam Odio 02:27, 5 December 2005 (EST)
As I stated on your talk page I have decided to accept. Chotchki 20:18, 5 December 2005 (EST)

I have added you as a sysop. I would encourage your input on Talk:The role of a sysop. Finially, I don't expect you to police recent changes - but if everyone checks the page occasionally we shouldn't have a problem. Think about adding the list of commonly spammed pages to your watchlist. --Sam Odio 12:35, 7 December 2005 (EST)
O wow that page makes the link spam REALLY easy fix, thanks. Chotchki 12:49, 7 December 2005 (EST)

Website / desktop integration

You wrote something short about integrating a site with your desktop - I'd be very interested in talking about doing this with the MediaWiki software. Let me know what you think about this. --Sam Odio 02:31, 5 December 2005 (EST)

Why delete {{ref}} and {{note}}? I'm not quite sure what they do, but they seem like potentially useful tools of sufficient generality -- my standard for templatespace. I'd like to see them documented.

I've been in a big war over this (next) minor issue; I'd rather not get into another one -- but I don't see the value of tagging template bodies. Better to tag templates on the corresponding talk page; that way the template remains potentially useful.

Anyway, you're a sysop now, so you can delete those templates if you insist -- but I'd rather you retained and documented them.

Congratulations on your elevation. Welcome to the crowd. — "Bear" 12:19, 11 December 2005 (EST)

Thanks man. I felt that they needed to be deleted because the reason why I brought them over disappeared. However since you feel they will be useful I'll try to get them documented. Also I didn't delete them myself because I see it as bad form. Chotchki 12:35, 11 December 2005 (EST)

Still waiting on those docs. I've had a look at those templates on WP; they seem pretty technical. I'm sure I'd have to spend some time with them before figuring out how to use them; the WP docs are impenetrable.

BTW, I see on your user page that you "created" {{welcome}}; but I don't see it -- not even deleted. I'm not fond of lengthy welcome templates, but there's a place for such a thing -- a quick orientation to the new user. Like to see you take a crack at it.

Oh, and I appreciate your committed involvement. Let's hope our efforts here are better spent than they were on WP. — "Bear" 04:48, 17 January 2006 (EST)

For best new BluWiki sysop. — "Bear" 04:55, 17 January 2006 (EST)
