Re: Holy Crap!!! (Honey Pot) {Relax}

The Honey Pot Just Takes Your Ip Adddress and Places it in the Email Field, and Also Places a Time Stamp... thers nothing to worry about

  • sspmxxxx_yy.yyy.yyy.yy_07-04-21@bluwiki.com
    • Y = Ip address

--KaiAdin 09:54, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Yep, that's all it does - just display your IP in the form of a mailto link. The IP info isn't collected on the server with that script. This way, when I go through my mail server logs, I can search for "sspm" and know which IPs are trolling BluWiki for email addresses. When these bots harvest addresses and email bluwiki.com, they give themselves away! --Sam Odio 10:02, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Oh I Think Metropolisforever wants to know what it does. From what I know, a Honeypot is basically a trap for Spamming Bots (Web Crawlers that search for email addresses to spam), it basically looks like an email address but leads to nowhere, the theory being that spammers think they can use a honeypot to relay spam to other emails but instead they are stopped as it isn't a working email relay, or something like that eh you'd better see Wikipedia:Honeypot (computing) for More Info --KaiAdin 10:10, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Japanese Wikipedia

Its probably the style of English you use, or maybe that you used English at aLL, since their main language is Japanese.

Finding out your service provider is actually quite easy, its appended to the data thats sent to their server, you can check whats there at http://noreply.org... usually the name of the provider and what country you are from is sent every time you visit a site. --KaiAdin 07:02, 4 May 2007 (EDT)

User:210.212.242.99 and LOOOOVER

Lol, yea I deleted that before I remember, but looking at the links and the deleted History it seemed that the user was just making a lists of his favorite links on several different pages, even Sam blocked and unblocked User:210.212.242.99 twice! (SEE [1]) and the user actually also has an account Prabhuleo_durai but hardly ever logs in and edits with it.

Hes pretty harmless and its not Spam per se, so its alright to leave his pages up. --KaiAdin 15:38, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

Video Game Olde Crew

There nothing truly mature there at Video Game Olde Crew, I don't really think the mature template is really necessary, all they talk about is their partys, Ice Cream Rocky and Silly (In a funny way) math how to figure out Douche Radiation, sure its like 14+ but not that bad needing an 18+ rating. --KaiAdin 06:57, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

Holy Crap!!!

What the fuck is up with that "honeypot" thing!?!? Is that my IP Address!?!? I am seriously creeped out!!! O_O--Metropolisforever 15:03, 7 April 2007 (EDT)

Spammers often use bots to troll the internet, harvesting email addresses. The honepot code on BluWiki is a trap, used to decrease their effectiveness. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeypot_(computing)#E-mail_trap for more info.
If you're worried about your IP address being collected, you should be aware that it is common practice on most wiki's to collect IP info, including WikiPedia. --Sam Odio 15:32, 7 April 2007 (EDT)

I was talking about the IP Address in the honeypot thing. O_O--Metropolisforever 10:40, 9 April 2007 (EDT)

Is that my IP Address in the honeypot thing??? O_O--Metropolisforever 09:34, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Okay, well, that's good! ^_^

By the way... the people on the Japanese Wikipedia are some of the creepiest people you will EVER see!!! They somehow know I speak English as my native language, I live in [blank], and they even know my Internet Service Provider!!! Just to name a FEW of the things they somehow know!!! Template talk:Redirect info

No need for this template

As if you do use the #redirect [[page name]] code, the page will automatically redirect to the page set. Sorry to blank your work --KaiAdin 05:57, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Block Templates Effectiveness and Bluwiki Users habits

A good Idea, but would you use it with IP adresses? People here unlike wikipedia tend to visit once or twice then never come back, unless they start their own set of pages. If they do make accounts they only tend to edit one page or two, or edit a page protected from Anon IP edits. Also remember more people here edit anonymously rather than make an account, well actually the bulk of an edits on a given day are made by registered users, but all the Spamming and Vandalism is by Anon Ips. Therefore warnings and unblock requests may be ineffective, especially for Anon Ips, as the user would never see them.

Oh hey, maybe if they were in a Box, like the other BluWiki templates, that would be good so they match up. --KaiAdin 15:42, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

Hello, again (Headmaster and Friends thing)

Sorry I've not been around, but thought I'd lie low - friends at school found that I was editing a website that had Shock Sites. Not a nice experience, with them threatening to go to the Head! Microchip08 14:18, 2 July 2007 (EDT).

Oh Right, fair enough, although, i don't see what the headmaster of your school could do to you regarding Shock Sites, its not as if you were tricking people to chick the links or something, there are lotsa warnings at the top.
Id Say just don't edit it on the school computers or something during lunch or computer class or something like that, keep it as a personal side project you do at home and I'm pretty sure, it would be out of the schools jurisdiction, Unless it somehow affects your academic performance. --KaiAdin 19:53, 2 July 2007 (EDT)

Ssjvaporeon Edit Summary: reverted furry bullshit

http://bluwiki.com/index.php?title=Ssjvaporeon&diff=next&oldid=121325

  1. Maybe next time choose something less insulting when reverting my edits...
  2. I don't see what so terribly important about having a page with having 'Supercunt' 7 times

Opps! (Re User_talk:Sam_Odio)

Your not really supposed to remove comments on talk pages, their usually used as an archive of past issues, community votes and decisions, as is done on wikipedia, but anyway theres no harm done, i just restored the comments. --KaiAdin 18:13, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
