• Wired Science: Radio Quiet Zone. This is the Wired Science segment about the Radio Quiet Zone that I mentioned in class. - Jake

• IEEE Standards Process. This page gives a brief outline of the process involved in approving various IEEE standards, including the wireless ones we are familiar with -- 802.11 - Jake

• FCC 700 MHz Auction. This is the FCC page for the ongoing 700 MHz band auction.

• Eweek.com--website containing daily news updates about what is going on in the wireless arena - contains policy arguments, business news, and opinion columns about wireless and the internet--Joe

• State of Illinois - Technology in Illinois This is an intrastate network that links together a bunch of learning institutions. --Luis

• Education World: Technology in the Classroom A web resource for teachers. Sample lesson plans on how to implement technology into classroom lessons. --Luis

• Illinois Learning Standards for Science & Technology It is state-mandated for schools to incorporate technology into their curricula. Here are the standards broken down by grade (link on the bottom). --Luis

• CRS Report for Congress. This PDF discusses wireless interference, especially at the 800 MHz level. It deals with Nextel's potential plans to reduce interference to public safety channels at 800 MHz by consolidating the public safety users to the lower part of the 800 MHz band and pushing commercial users to the upper 800 MHz band. --Chris K.

• ACM Portal. This site offers a huge collection of "computing literature." It requires a membership, but the trial membership is free. The linked article seemed very interesting; it is titled, "How America's fragmented approach to public safety wastes money and spectrum." --Chris K

• WISPA. This is the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association's page. The specific linked page has several articles relating to the Unlicensed use of TV whitespace. Articles bring up economic/legal issues, technical issues, as well as the results from previously conducted TV whitespace interference studies. --Chris K

• Engadget. This site does a nice job aggregating a number of tech subjects including emerging wireless devices. --Chris J

• CTIA Wireless Association. Site is a wireless policy advocacy group. They are primarily concerned with making sure consumers have access to a number of wireless techonlogies. --Chris J

• Radio-Locator.com. An interesting resource for web information about radio stations (and radio vacancies) by geography. --Dave

• AntennaWeb. Provides advise for TV antenna types and directions based on TV stations (analog and digital) in your area. --Dave

• Sascha Meinrath's blog. Independent blog. "providing educational content and commentary on issues concerning Community Broadband Networking, spectrum policy, & open-source and open-architecture development." Dave knows of him through CUWiN and the IMC. --Dave

• Earthlinks Protection Control Center.Readers give feedback on the product and/or ask questions regarding Internet security in general. --Jason

• Wire-tapping VoIP. Opinions from people worried about companies like Vonage providing some way of law enforcement to tap their service. --Jason

• Comcast: We'll blackball big downloaders with no warning. Comcast limiting internet users downloading ability. --Jason

TIPS: You can find blogs by reading blogs and looking at what other blogs they reference and talk about. You can also find a lot of things by googling the more technical words and acronyms in our project ideas (FRS/GMRS etc.) Feel free to add other tips or advice here.
