Originally founded to halt the tyranny of the Naru Brigade, the Army lent it's technical might to the war effort in the Brigade War. With the combined efforts of the 'most popular character' (the Army's first allies, the peace-keeping UTGF), the Army subdued the rampaging Naru hordes and the Brigade War died down into random skirmishes and is now in a sustained period of peace, albeit uneasy.

Kentaro, the great leader and founder, was with the Army through that first great battle, but is now semi-retired, reporting from the field on an irregular basis.

Alway ready to go into the fray, this peace period lays heavy on the ASR, who remain itching to go to battle. But, on the plus side, it means they can spend their time developing new weaponry and miscellaneous technology advancements (pushing through the development of the *WHOMP*inator is so far the crowning achievement), and consuming vast amounts of bananas.

With the prolonged absence of Kentaro, and the introduction of subforums in late 2004, hinarei took over the day-to-day running of the ASR on 1 Sep 2004.

The new subforum was initially slow and rarely posted in, but gradually numbers have risen, with various notables falling by the wayside, to the reasonably healthy ASR barracks you can see today.

A recent revival of old hatreds resulted in a half-hearted rail against the Naru Brigade. Lack of direction and official support led to this tailing off somewhat.

Ranks are handed out on a random basis.

Promotion is rare in the Army, coming generally through the filling of departed members' positions, the commissions system (designated number of bananas per rank), and occasionally through Brigade projects.

Naru fans, or at least those brave enough to venture to join, normally rank no higher than Lance Bombardier.

All new recruits start at the lowest rank, Private, and progress through a system not dissimilar to that of the British Army.

The ASR is one of two Brigades to have its own background, a Kaolla-based slant on the Classic forum skin. If you go into the ASR subforum, Kaolla will smile upon you, rather than the usual Naru banner.

The Army has, to this day, never had its own moderator or subforum description.
