I just put in some information that I found on the first post of the DVRMSToolbox thread on thegreenbutton message board.

Its encouraged to add sections, stepsk, tricks, special workarounds for certian systems, anything youve done with DVRMSToolbox that someone else hasnt added yet.

Formating:

Surround heading titles with == for new sections

Surround heading titles with === for sub sections

Surround heading titles with ==== for subsub sections

start a line with a * for a bullet

start a line with a # for a numbered list

Hellloooo??? Anyone there? Like most I think this product has a lot of potential but, works half the time and very sparse documentation. Frustrating I paid $10 for ShowAnalyzer since it is the Best but waiting to see it work like it is supposed to...

I don't understand how this works. Can someone put a more detailed discription of how this works/what to do with it? It sounds cool, but there are only a few lines of instuructions and they are confusing... --71.8.216.235 14:05, 27 March 2006 (EST)

I have the same question. I've installed and followed the instructions to register the add-in. On my XBOX 360, being used as an extender, I don't see anything under "More Programs" however "Media Center Commercial Skip" is listed under "Edit More Programs." Up, down, etc do nothing on the extender. Has anyone gotten Commercial Skip to work in this configuration? If so, let me know so you can share the goodness. Thx.

I know it is an alpha, but there is precious little help. You'd pretty much better be a programmer to even think about this. After install and registration, going to the media home page I get "The graph was unable to load the show (commercialskip stopped) restart media center" It does it after any restarts. Using the up, down, left ,right keys brings up the commerical xml dialog, but that appears empty. Not that a user should have to deal with such things.

I have endless hours trying to make this program work for me so I'm asking for help only after I've tried all I know. I'm using Microsoft media center to record content from my Dish network satellite. I'm using a super video input to a high end PC. I tried a 200 mb file "test.dvr-ms" and ran it through your dvr-ms to mpeg program. It worked flawlessly. When I try it with any full movie (5 gigbites) it ends with "Attempting connet of out pin 'Output' to input pin 'Input' Processing XML graph path Loaded IGraphBuilder from XML Running graph 0% Failed to render the xml graph Will this not work with copy prtected content? I only want to make the content into a portable version to watch on my mobile video player.

[edit] Additional Help - DVR-MS to DVR-MS cutting commercials

I like this product already. However, when using the built in profile to cut commercials out of a dvr-ms and output to dvr-ms, portions of the tele-show gets cut out as well. I am crawling the Web to find good details or help that would produce a dvr-ms file with commercials cut out. The help on this site does not really provide good details; such as answering why would I want to use a certain feature. I have spent hours already trying to figure out how to best use the product. Can anyone help?

To add, someone recommended taking advantage of the 10-day free trial of ShowAnalyzer. I plan on following the instructions on this site to put it to use. However, it seems like it is only useful when viewing through the extender. I just want to strip the commercials and store that new file, not have to work thru the commercials when viewing. Am I off base having the idea that DVRMSToolbox can do this?

I will update the thread once I make some progress, or get nowhere.

Seems like a nice product. Works great sometimes, others it doesnt seem to process or misses lots of commercials...

What would be great is if we had some detail documentation for dummies like me!

Also, can showanalyzer learn as it goes through tv shows???

Dcut is great for removing commercials and compressing the original file. I can then view these "edited" videos through "My Videos." The problem is that this is not done automatically. You manually mark the start and stop points. You can get Dcut at http://www.inseattle.org/~dan/Dcut.htm

If DVRMSToolbox can do this automatically, that is great. It seems like others are having some difficulties with this.

I did some reading at TGB forums and found a thread about the zune player with MCE. Take a look at the thread.... http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/5/147869/ShowThread.aspx There are some video tutorials there on how to automate the process. I have not tried this yet.

Please respond if you try it and it works.
