Chat here - any shock sites wanted to add?

Please note that if the shock sites are not notable, and not referenced in scientific journals, they will not be included here! (only joking!)

You will never beat VGOC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's an idea

Why not redirect the main page to the most recent history when the page was still around? Armitando 13:43, 25 August 2007 (EDT)

I'm thinking about making a fully accessible mirror of the old article. (At Jenkem, you have to post on the talk page first, you can't post yourself.) What's a good wiki to do this at?Armitando 19:50, 16 September 2007 (EDT)

Do Not Remove the Mature Template on Shock Sites

Metropolis and others,

I host bluwiki. I run the server that distributes the content on this page. If you can't respect my wishes, go somewhere else.

According to US Law, it is now illegal to mislead visitors into clicking links that direct them to sites "constituting obscenity" or that have material "harmful to minors." The template I put it on Shock Sites is meant to warn visitors of the content you're linking to, and to protect BluWiki (and its users) from the possibility of legal action.

If it doesn't stay up, I could be fined, or even imprisoned. This is why I'm asking you to please respect the work I have put into this site, and leave it there. --Sam Odio 10:39, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Stop Racism

I notice this list is missing stopracism.tk; I can't find a mirror of it, could someone help?

One more shock site I found myself >>>>

This site fetures many shocking images in pop-up windows all over your screen.

ED, Gurochan, and others

While these pages do indeed host images that may be considered "disturbing" to some people, this is not their actual intention. First off, Encyclopedia Dramatica, though it hosts images that many people don't want to see, it is actually a site created for comedic value. The comedy lies in the text coupled with the images, and not in the emotions of the user who witnesses the page, like most "shock sites". As for Gurochan, though it's definitely not my cup of tea, it is actually made for those with a fetish for 'guro'. If you go to the site, you'll see "'you've been warned'" right below the title, and the text "Disclaimer", in bold. If one chooses to visit /f/, /g/, or /s/, then it is their own foolishness that brought them to it (assuming they did not know what the contents would be). Because of this, one can hardly claim that these are shock sites. It's like claiming that a gay porn site is a shock site, simply because it contains images that many people do not want to see.

With this in mind, please do not edit the list and add sites simply because you find them offensive. < (talkcontribs) .</small>

Uhhh... no. Someone could just link directly to an offensive image, hosted on those websites. Also, have you ever actually, really been on those websites...??? O_O ?_?

^_~ ^_^ ;) :) :D--Metropolisforever 09:33, 5 June 2007 (EDT)

I have been on websites such as www.encyclopediadramatica.org, yes, and I don't find them offensive in the least. As for a site like "gurochan", if someone is linked to an image on the site and they don't read the full title of the website, that's their own fault. But saying that a site becomes a shock site the moment an offensive image is hosted on it would mean this: If I get a free site from www.dalir.net, and then proceed to upload the lemonparty image, for example, then begin linking it to other people, it is now a shock site. Does this really make sense, though? If a picture/video of two women kissing is considered offensive by someone, should the Molson website have been considered to be a shock site? Just because you find something offensive on a website does not mean it is a shock site. Rather, the only sites that are really worth being considered 'shock sites' are those that immediately display a picture/video - without giving the user a chance to decide whether or not they wish to view it - that will be considered offensive by the majority of the people who view it.

If you don't agree with this, I guess you might as well add nearly every site you come across on the internet (note that I am the same person who made the first post). < (talkcontribs) .</small>

There are a million more ways that I could prove you wrong...--Metropolisforever 21:37, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

http://www.happypuppies.net I haven't checked it out yet, but i believe it's a shock site. Last measure clone or something else? Looking forward to descriptions by anyone with a better stomach.

happypuppies.net was a goatse.cx mirror site around 2001 or 2002. Beyond that, I don't know. < (talkcontribs) .</small>

There is very little "comedic value" on Encyclopedia Dramatica. Some of their articles are funny, some of them are part truthful but others are just plain crap. I can attest to this, speaking as one of its "victims". I have a page there which basically paints me as a predator (and that's the nice way of putting it). There's an "article" with a Photoshopped picture, very slanted and falsified information, calling me a predator (and other things). Those sort of pages can cost a person their reputation, if ED was the sort of site to be taken seriously.
It's a shock site, written for shock value, at the expense of others. They don't try to be funny, oftentimes qualifying as unfunny. Even Trendpedia, Uncyclopedia and a forum call them a shock site. Take a look at some of their pages. If you need further explanation, my e-mail is enabledNathan (talk)

Hey, when I try to go to satellite-gps-locator (which you guys say is two people kissing) is actually a shock site!!!!!!Armitando 09:28, 10 August 2007 (EDT)
