[edit] Test

[edit] Leg 1 (United States to France/Switzerland to Italy)

The detour in Quillan was a choice between Find the Man or Find the Woman. In Find the Man, teams had to go to the castle of Rennes-le-Chateau. There, teams had to find two separate parts of the Vitruvian Man which, when put together, would reveal the name of their next destination. In Find the Woman, teams had to go to a field and listen for noise. Once they found the source of the noise, they would find their next clue.

In Geneva, the detour was a choice between Flag and Feed. In Flag, teams had to pick a marked area filled with flags with writing on them. Teams then had to pick out the flags of the non-European countries and put them all together to find out the name of their next destination. In Feed, teams had to go to the village of Pas de l’Echelle, France, and find a cheese shop. At the cheese shop, teams had to eat enough of a wheel of cheese cut into cubes to reveal the name of their next destination underneath.

Additional Tasks

  • At the Town Square of Quillan, teams had to learn a dance performed during a local festival and perform it correctly to receive their next clue.
  • At the Place de la Comédie in Montpellier, teams had to sign up for 1 of 2 times for trains departing the next day for Milan, Italy at either 6.23am or 9.15am. Half of the teams in France could get each time.
  • At Piz Gloria in Schilthorn, teams had to complete a 6,600ft tandem paraglide (with an instructor) to a landing site in the village of Stechelberg to receive their next clue.
  • At Jet d’Eau in Geneva, teams had to sign up for 1 of 2 times for trains departing the next day for Milan, Italy, at either 11.07am or 11.56am. Half of the teams in Switzerland could get each time.
  • At the Autodromo Nazionale, teams had to complete 6 laps of the track (3 laps each) in a racecar in a time of under 5 minutes and 30 seconds. If teams didn’t do this in the set time, they had to complete a Side Road task. In this Side Road, teams had to spray paint a racecar and paste all of the advertisements onto it before continuing with the race.
