About

I am planning on building a Beowulf clustered "super" computer.

A super computer is defined by WikiPedia as one that leads the world in terms of processing capacity, particularly speed of calculation, at the time of its introduction.
I'm not sure if my beowulf will meet that defination - but I will give it my best shot...

Server Purpose

Haven't found one yet... any ideas? Email me.

Server Specs

4-8 2U diskless Nodes

  • AMD Moblie Athalon 64 3000+ Processor
  • 1 GB DDR 400 (PC2700) Ram
  • JetWay A200GDMS Socket 754 ATX AMD Motherboard
    • Onboard video ATI Radeon XPRESS 200
    • 10/100 Onboard ethernet
  • I am debating taking 1 GB of the ram out and adding two 80GB hard drives
  • I would like 10/100/1000 onboard ethernet
  • Price per node: $450

Master node

  • 2 U Server chassis [1]
    • Replaced with a black 2U chassis, similar model.
  • AMD Moblie Athalon 64 3000+ Processor [2] & heatsink [3]
  • 1 GB DDR 400 (PC2700) Ram [4]
  • Jet Way A200GDMS Socket 754 ATX AMD Motherboard [5]
  • 2 (Raid 1) Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drives [6]
  • I would like 10/100/1000 onboard ethernet
  • Server price: $580
